Default Celebrity Cruise Line

We are thinking of going on a New years cruise with Celebrity cruise line. Does anyone have any experience with them that you can share? Thanks

Celebrity, owned by the Royal Caribbean International people is a good cruise line - of course each ship has its own good and bad points, just like all other cruise lines do. We enjoyed a 10 Night Bermuda & New England Cruise in July 2018 aboard Celebrity Summit. You can equate Celebrity with a very slightly upside of Royal Caribben ships and a very slightly older crowd. But it isn't a bunch of stuffy old people. You would enjoy the cruise.

Earlier this year, my wife and I did an 11-day cruise to the Southern Caribbean (Grand Cayman, Panama, Ecuador, Belize and 2 stops in Mexico) primarily to do bird-watching with an independent tour company (Carefree Birding out of Sanibel Island, FL) that uses Celebrity. We have not done a lot of cruising before (just an Alaskan cruise and a northern Caribbean cruise, both on Holland America Lines) so we may not be the best judges, but we liked the room, the food, the entertainment and the ship well enough to book another cruise with them to the Galapagos next year. If you were cruising with young kids, you might prefer another line such as Disney. If you're young and single and looking to party, there may be other, wilder cruise lines. If you're on a tight budget, there may be cheaper cruise lines out there. If you want absolutely top-notch, world-class dining and service, there may be even nicer cruise lines out there (thought at a substantial uptick in price, I'm sure). We're 65, looking for entertainment but not non-stop partying, good food but not gourmet stuff and desiring decent service on clean, newer ships. Using those criteria, we would do Celebrity again.

Celebrity is "just right" for me. Crystal and Silver Seas are more upscale but I cannot stand Carnival. Holland America is OK but their food is starchy and blah.

We are frequent flyers on Celebrity, and love them. They are considered the best of the mass market cruise lines. That being said, New Years week is one of the most expensive times to cruise. A cruise the following week will be hundreds less.

Have sailed them several times. No complaints at all. Do yourself a favor if you see a notice for the Silent Disco be sure and go. Great time!

We took a cruise w Celebrity that was over last Christmas. We've cruised many times on many different lines, and this was our first on Celebrity. The ship was very nicely decorated for the holidays, and the Muzak playing in the dining areas festive. Like any vacation, your good time is what you make of it. Celebrity has always touted their food - again a matter of "taste", but we found the buffet to be very average, with the exception of Christmas day, when the culinary staff went "overboard" with much better food and some really excellent desserts. I would consider Celebrity middle of the pack, in terms of price to value - putting them in the league of Princess and NCL. We have yet to sail Royal Caribbean, so can;t do a compare w them. We would definitely sail them again.

Smile The Ship

We cruise quite a bit including multiple cruises to Tahiti, etc. The best cruises are the ones that were chosen because of the ship. Most Cruise Lines include in their advertisements a description of their ships. In addition one of the best sources is to sign up with "Cruisecritic.com" chose the particular cruise you are considering taking and read up on what ones who have used the cruise or ship and read up on their reviews. As an example a cruise to the Med. on the crown was a disaster. There were lines for meals,it
was dirty and old. The cruise on Royal was wonderful. It's the ship not the Cruise Line !!

Try the Celebrity Equinox. It is the best. Sailed on her 8 times. Have 2 more scheduled next year
