Default Daytona Beach safe?

We are thinking of a day trip, on a weekday , to Daytona Beach for some beach time. Plan would include taking our own lunch and just enjoying the beach and ocean. Has anyone experienced crowd level in the last week? Did you feel safe? Appreciate input. Thanks and stay safe, friends.

Beaches are less crowded on weekdays, and people are doing a good job of keeping distance from others even on the weekends. I spent a week on New Smyrna Beach earlier this month without a problem.

New Smyrna Beach and National Seashore park just south is another option especially if looking for fewer people.

In watching Nat Geo lately, we were surprised to see where New Smyrna Beach is considered the "shark bite capital of the world." Of course, with the odds of being bitten at about 1 in 3.75 million (lower in New Smyrna Beach?), I still don't think that would stop us from going there. lol

been there, nice at low tide....you just don't want to go for a long swim to the east

cuz, when we're in the ocean we give up our apex predator status to quite a few others

We go to Hollywood beach frequently and despite what is reported about Broward County, the beaches are safe.

If you have a 4WD go to Ormond Beach. You can drive right on the beach. $20 though.

I would go to Clearwater Beach too. Been there several times. Like that side of Florida better. White sand, lots to do there. I would feel safer and scenery it beautiful. They even have water taxi where you can take over to clearwater and Dunedin. Awesome town with shops. Lots of stuff to do I have friends who live in Clearwater. Check that out sometime.

We just went last week on Weds. There are sections that do not have very many people. Ponce Inlet and Daytona Beach Shores. Enjoy the beautiful Ocean and stay away from the crowds.

We were there for a week recently - Daytona Beach Shores (South D.B.). Found less people on weekdays & all were displaying social distancing. Flagler Beach also had less people. Enjoy

Frankly during the week, the best beach is a little further north, Flagler, not as traveled as the others and even great places to eat with outdoor dining and not crowded.

Default Ormond Beach

Nicer public park 2mi north of Daytona at Ormond Beach, opposite Bonefish Grill and other restaurants, one with a roof top deck. Free parking, less driving on beach.
Miniature golf up the road. Less high rise hotels. Popular spot, busy but safe.
