What license office in the villages? You can't get your drivers license renewed in The Villages.

I hear your grandfather was a very handsome guy.

I tried to
he online route last week and it was quick, easy, but more expensive than in past years. I knew that going in though - all fees went up recently. At the same time I renewed some vehicle registrations online. I highly recommend the online route if you can do it (not everyone can).

One small aside for all those posting here, there is no "P" in Sumter County.

The license office located behind the bowling alleys south of Spanish Springs. Can't you get your driver's license there??????????? We have gotten our plates there several times. Why can't you get your license too?

Thats because it is the tax collectors office.

Don't know if things are different down there, but here in Duval (Jacksonville), you can renew a driver's license at a Tax Collector's office. Not sure about a first Florida DL, though.

Ok ladies.....just a piece of advice.....

I went to get my FL license and brought all of the necessary paperwork. So I thought ! I brought my RI license, my passport, birth certificate, utility bills in my name ( to prove that I do live here). Well, DMV says that I need to show a paper trail since my birth certificate had my birth name and my RI license had another. This all has to do with the Security Act in effect. No problem, what do I need and I will go and get it. They tell me that I needed my marriage certificate to show how my name got changed. OK. I go home and get my marriage certificate and I think, well let me bring my divorce papers from my first marriage. You never know. Well, I show them my marriage certificate, which has my maiden name and my 1st married name.
RED FLAG!!!!I need to show a marriage certificate for the first marriage.....
Well, when I got divorced, they (the court system)kept the marriage certificate. I do not have one. BUT I do have the divorce papers. So I asked if the divorce papers would help as they show my birth name to my 1st married name. They said no. HELLO!... why would I pay for a divorce from a man I was not married to!!!! Well, now we have to have a "meeting " with the supervisor..... After stating the scenario again, they finally agreed that I was who I was...and they gave me my license.

Just remember...bring everything....they need a paper trail....it is for security purposes !

I do not think they are equipped to do the eye tests and take the pictures.

When I first moved here, I did get my new tags there but I had to go to Wildwood to get a drivers license.

I know for a fact that the Belleview office is a tax collectors office and we renewed our licenses there.

Good to see that Pattie and Selma have relocated to Florida and are still working for the DMV.

Marriage & Divorce Papers, oh, my

I'm laffing my butt off right now. I married for the 1st time at 30 years ago (for 6 mos.) and the 2nd time 26 years ago (for 4 mos.). I haven't a clue where the wedding and divorce papers are for 1 or 2. But I had to "File to get my own name back in the State of CA" both times.

I got married for the LAST time 10 years ago and kept my maiden name, thank god. But... we got married in Jamaica. I'm watching TV last night - "Bill & Guiliana" and Guiliana goes to change her passport to her husband's name (Ransic) at the Post Office and finds out that because they got married in Italy, she's not legally married in the U.S. Ooops...

They didn't say a word to us in Jamaica. They didn't say a word to Guiliana. Her own sister didn't tell her. Again... I am so grateful that every piece of paper I own is in my Maiden Name or I would be up a creek. And I'm really an unmarried woman....

Should I make him buy me more jewelry? :pepper2:

When we got our FL driver license ( in May) all we had to show was a Passport, proof of residence and turn in NY license. If you showed them a valid Passport why do you need the other stuff?

When we got our FL licenses in March in Wildwood we used our passports, proof of residence in FL and they asked to see our social security cards. I didn't have my s.s. card but they accepted a copy of my Social Security 1099 form.
The lady at the office was extremely pleasant and helpful. It was a quick and painless procedure.
