Default Express Pick-up at Orlando Airport

Is anyone familiar with the Express Pick-up area at Orlando Airport? I'd like to hear from anyone who has used it. I understand there are some security procedures you're supposed to go thru to access it.

Very convenient. Yes, your car will be searched, but considering the parking is under the airport buildings, it is perfectly acceptable. There also is a charge for the parking (we have a SunPass, so it gets charged against it)... well worth the charge.

Yes, I have the SunPass. That's what made me take a look at this. I'm picking someone up this PM so we'll give it a shot. Thanks for the info.

I've found that parking in the cell lot is quite convenient and easy. I usually don't even wait for the phone call -- have gotten the timing down pretty good as to how long it takes to get to the pick up (with or without luggage).

Have used the cell lot successfully at least 3 times with no issues.

I guess the advantage of the express lot is that you can go inside to meet your guests?

This is a great way to pick up people at the airport. However you can not have any packages in your car or trunk. And when you pull in stop at the sign that says stop then proceed when told to the search area. It is a little hassle but after that it is a great way to pick people up. Again you must have a sun-pass to use this pickup area.

Yes, you go into the terminal and meet your guests.

I have never tried it, I use the cell lot mostly when meeting folks coming in. Here is the summary of the costs. Looks a bit cheaper than the garage if you staying past 20 minutes. I have used the garage in the past if I wanted to run in quick (less than 20 minutes).

Scroll up on this link for garage prices.

The link below states $1 per 30 minutes up to two hours. After the first two hours the cost is $5 per hour or any part thereof. The link is from 2006 but if I remember correctly it was the same or close to when I used it several months ago. The time I used it there were plenty of parking spaces available within a very short walk to inside of the terminal.

I did use the express pickup on Monday and I have to say it's real smooth. Pulled up to the inspection station and the car got a "pat down" . . . . checking under the chassis using mirrors, physical interior check with a wand of some sort including the trunk (they didn't seem to mind that I had gear and stuff in the trunk). But it was a little strange that they didn't bother with the engine compartment. Paid $2 for the one hour I was there. You park 100 yards from the baggage claim area . . . . very convenient to pick up your guests.

Where do you get EPass or SunPass? We have guests with children coming in April and it sounds like this would be ideal for pick up.
