Default Frontier/allegiant

Has anyone from these two airlines? Are they safe to fly.

I fly both all the time. You can look at the scheduled for both and pick up the best option. Allegiant is pretty liberal with their "personal item" allowance.

Does anyone know someone who flys an airline because they think it's unsafe?

Allegiant hasn't had any emergency landings in over 3 or 4 months. They have the most maintenance problems of any airline I ever heard of. Check them out online.

I fly Frontier because they fly to the places that I frequent. My husband flies Allegiant because of ease of going into Concord NC.

Are they safe? Well all I can say is that we are both alive.....

If you're a military veteran, you and your spouse have good benefits with Allegiant Air. You get up to three checked bags free, one carry-on bag free, boarding passes and seat assignments are free and you can bring one carry-on pet free. I always book/pay for my flights online but I don't pre- pay for baggage or pet. Instead when you check-in show them your military ID or DD214 and they waive all fees for baggage and boarding passes.

If you fly Allegiant before the end of November, might want to avoid those old MD-80 planes that they are retiring Nov. 25.
At least they're buying NEW planes now.

I flew Allegiant for the first time a few weeks ago. I normally won't fly those cheap airlines that make me pay for a carry on bag on general principal, but this was an unusual situation and I sort of had to. It was fine (other than having to pay for a seat assignment) but the important thing to remember about them is that they only fly to many cities a few times a week. If they cancel your flight for some reason you could be stuck for a couple of days unless you buy a ticket on another airline. It is one thing if you are in your home city and can go back home until their next scheduled flight. If you are elsewhere and have already checked out of your hotel when they cancel your flight ... not good. I think Frontier is the same (flying to some cities on certain days only). Just something to be aware of.

Did not know that. Has any one else used this benefit?

My wife flys to PA about 4 times a year, and has for the last 4 years. Has never had any issue with Allegiant, never had a flight canceled, never had an emergency landing....occasionally the usual weather delays. She has also experienced delayed departures that arrived on time....flies from Sanford. I am a believer that when programs like 60 minutes do their reporting it is for ratings so they lean to sensationalism. I read a government report that included a failed coffee maker as an incident on a flight on a major airline. I also don't know of a death or crash on Allegiant. She will continue to fly.
