Default Questions about Lucerne/Interlaken Switzerland area

It has been several years since we have been to the Lucerne area. Our son and his family (3 girlls - ages 3, 5, and 7) are in Berlin for the summer. We are planning an 8 or 9 day driving trip with them - late July/early August. We are going to base in Munich for 3 days. We love the Interlaken/Jungfrau/Murren/Lauterbrunnen/Grindelwald scenery. My question is where to base to visit this area as our kids want stay in one base area and take day trips out.

I vote for Murren as base place and explore each day from there. The pommes frites there are the BEST !!

Thanks. I was leaning toward Murren. Any hotel recommendations?

We stayed in Interlaken at the Carlton-Europe.
It was very convenient to the Interlaken Ost train station (East train station).

We spent some time in Murren and loved it. Many lovely hikes from the area. You can either take the gorgeous hike, or else take the train to the top of the Schilthorn, where one of the James Bond movies was filmed. Spectacular views. I imagine in July/August the meadows will be filled with wildflowers. Enjoy!
