RV Resorts/Campgrounds in Maine
I'm thinking about spending some time on the east coast of Maine this summer in my motorhome. Can anyone recommend a good campground that might be perfect for a month? Need all hookups.

Affordable Family Vacations and Golf on Sebago Lake in Maine Point Sebago 2013 Brochure Campground Details p.s. If you see more than one location you like, you could consider splitting the month to a couple weeks at each campground.

acres of wildlife in steep falls and papoose pond in waterford are both great camp grounds , I have camped on the coast and have vowed to never do it again, sites are terribly small unable to extend bumpouts , extend awnings fully or have a camp fire, unless you have a seasonal site to me it's not worth what it cost but thats' just my .02 cents worth .... further up the coast I cant say with any authority or knowledge but anything within 100 miles of Mass. border is not worth the price vs value

We have stayed at Wild Duck Campground in Scarborough, Me. Great location on the Audubon Marsh. It is an adult campground- no children! Quiet with no activities scheduled. Lots to do in the area.
Also stayed in Boothbay Harbor, ME at Shore Hills Campground. Also a great location. They run a shuttle into the town. You can even order cooked lobsters delivered right to your campsite. Both have full hookups. We enjoyed camping at both places. |

Thank you so much. Good suggestions. We're checking them all out. Love the idea of an adult campground. There is no pool at Wild Duck. How close is it to the beach?

It's an easy drive to the beach.

If you go to Wild Duck- try for a premium site. They back up to the marsh and are a little bigger. The center sites are tight. It is a very peaceful campground and the owner Chris keeps it spotless. This was one of our favorite campgrounds.

can one drive the rv to the beach and expect adequate parking - or do you need a car to drive there?

I also read 4 reviews on Wild Duck with 3 positive and 1 negative review. I won't bother going into detail, but one of the positive ones would be enough to convince me to try the CG, and the negative one... well, let's just say that it wasn't very convincing. I found no mention about mosquitos in anything I read in spite of my including the term in my searches. Now I would have chosen as the OP did, but I would still split up the month by reserving elsewhere for the second part of the month if you have the option to cancel it without loss of deposit, just in case you wind up not liking Wild Duck once there.

skyguy - i agree about splitting up the campground ressie - specially if travelling the maine coast in the summer! it's no day trip from scarborough to bar harbor - and who would want to miss bar harbor, acadia national park and the 'cruise' to nova scotia?
