Default Legendary Journeys - November 2011

Can anyone give me some feedback on their services, prices, experiences, etc.?
They have some great pricing, and I prefer dealing with a local agency rather than some unknown/anonymous on-line entity.
Thank you.

Legendary Journeys does have good prices advertised. They do not tell the whole story, though.

A whole group just returned from a 21 day trip to Italy and repositioning cruise from Rome to Florida. Little "upgrades" from being on the same plane with friends, same busses with friends, same hotels with friends, "highly recommended upgrades" to 3 and 4 star hotels, and optional tours made for a lot of extra money.

One optional tour to Genoa did not take place because of bad weather in Italy. There were also optional tours that did not take place in The Azores because the ship could not stop there because of scheduling. The people who had pre-paid for those tours were told (after they returned home) they would not be getting a refund from Legendary Journeys but to try and seek compensation from their travel insurance.

Legendary Journeys has a Better Business Bureau rating of B-.

Default not good news!

wow, sad to hear that! but thanks for the information, buggyone...i have traveled several times with go ahead tours and they have been reasonably priced and satisfactory....not luxurious, mind you! but well organized. prices on excursions are so high now that i find it hard to believe that one could not plan it for less themselves with a little internet effort...but it surely is nice to have someone else in charge of all the headaches.

Chachacha,

I was not one of those who lost out on a pre-paid tour with Legendary Journeys. We booked our tour of the Vatican and of the Collesium though an Internet company called ViaTours. Worked out great and got to skip all the waits in lines.

This is great information. When the excursions were booked through the cruiseline, then the refunds are automatic. Cannot have an excursion if the ship did not stop there. I have planned my own excursions, which are usually less expensive than cruise sponsored ones; success rate is 50/50.
Maybe LJ is too much of Travel 'factory' and are unable to provide services beyond good prices. I likie an agent that works for me, and is there to make suggestions and provide a seamless experience with no surprises!

Yes, here's all you need to know about Legendary Journeys - DON'T USE THEM FOR ANYTHING..... You have been forewarned....

Yes we have used them before and the experience was dreadful. Remember people, "you get what you pay for" and in our case, we didn't even get that!!!

If you want the cheapest cruise available then go to vacationstogo.com. Arrange your own bus transportation from the Villages with Cruise Connection and sit back and look forward to a wonderful vacation. If you want a day trip or multi-day trip, choose Senior Adventures and be rest assured that you will have a very nice trip.

We have a close friend who recently became a member of their travel club and arranged for 24 friends and relatives and neighbors to take a 17 day Mediterranen holiday with cruise and land excursions. What a disaster. There was no authorized Legendary personnel on hand to rectify major hotel accommodation issues, poorly planned land excursions that resulted in missed connections and the likes. It was a vacation nightmare which we should have expected given the low ball pricing.... From what we could tell, this organization gets rock bottom prices from vendors and offer those with an up charge to travelers without regard to their reliability. Since there is no authorized representative on hand to negotiate disputes, the customer is left with no options.

If you want to use the services of Legendary Journeys, do so at your own risk, but, remember, you have been warned and don't get upset when things go south. If on the otherhand you are a person who could care less about how you are accommodated or you are able to "go with the flow" of anything that happens, then this is the place for you for a cheap unescorted trip. You might have better luck on day trips with them, but again, you do so at your own risk. There are better businesses out there to do business with if you value your money.

Also, keep in mind that a lot of their advertised prices are not the end price. Most of the cruise prices they advertise do not include port fees & taxes. That can add a few $100.00. I have heard many disaster stories from people who have used them, especially excursions.
