Fly to Hawaii, and then tke a cruise around the islands.

We love going to the islands. Our preference is staying on the islands as there is so much to do and see which u won't have time to do if cruising. Last visit we stayed on big island one week then flew to Maui for one week. Every time we go we get two islands in for a period of time and now we can say we have Really seen Hawaii n love it

We did some research two years ago and decided to fly from the East Coast to Honolulu and stay on Waikiki Beach for three days before boarding the Norwegian Cruise line ship and cruising to Maui, Hawaii,Kauai for a day or two of exploring on each island. It worked great for us and we highly recommend it for a first time visit. The only thing we would do differently is to stop overnight on the West Coast for a day or two as we don't care for long flights.
