This is an interesting article.

I had an Iraqi friend (a librarian from the University of Mosul) while at the University of Denver Graduate School of Librarianship and Information Management (1983-1984) who would keep handing me food even after I said I was full. I figured out I was being rude rejecting each subsequent dish so I just went home kind of bloated whenever I went to Mahmood's apartment. His wife always stayed in the other room. I never met her. The other Muslims from Arabic countries who hung around with Mahmood wives would socialize. Just not the Iraqi. He sure got upset with me when he saw a Playboy magazine in my room on the University of Denver campus.

If there is a point to be made it is not coming across as such...although it is nice to go along with other cultures it is not necessary to discard your own to get along...there should be mutual respect for each others culture and in sticking to your own you should not be thought of as rude or inconsiderate....

Force feeding you and judging you on your Playboy magazine is rude, IMHO
