Thanks! I’ll have to remember to bring the ownership certificate

Similiar question. I live in a state without Tolls (Arizona). I will be moving to The Villages and will be driving from Arizona to Florida. Looks like I will be going through states that don't use EZ Pass. As a Toll Newbie, how do I handle this? Thanks.

If I remember correctly, the only place you might get near a toll road is Houston or Dallas. We told google to avoid tolls and had no issues.

Once here, the only tolls we regularly pay are going to Orlando on the Turnpike. Even those can be avoided but I'd rather pay.

If you come thu El Paso TX eat here ( Google Maps )

The restaurant is actually right by Las Cruces, NM, and it used to be excellent, I haven't been in many years, but I grew up in NM, and went to college in Las Cruces, so we went there a lot and loved it.

No Toll from I-10E to I-75 SB. You can even take the Florida Turnpike toll off I-75 as long as you take the first Exit 304 onto US-301 without paying a toll.

Taking I-75 to 44 you don’t use the toll road at all. The toll road starts JUST south of The Villages if you want to go to Orlando, etc. We purchased an EZ Pass and just keep it in the car and put it in the windshield if we ever head further south.

I just completed this process in November. You’ll need Florida insurance for all your vehicles to start the process.

All vehicles will need to be retitled to Florida. Of course you’ll need proof of residency so you’ll have to get your driver licenses done 1st.

You’ll need to bring the vehicle with you so they can verify the VIN code number.

The whole process is really easy and efficient.

In the latest phone book that came out there is a list of everything you’ll need to complete the process.

It’s not cheap. Per car it’s around $400 and change. However the renew is very inexpensive year over year.

There is an office is at Powell Road and 466A

While you’re there you can declare your homestead at the same time in an office in the same building so you can get the reduced property tax. Make sure you bring your closing statement to verify ownership.

Welcome to The Villages.

Thanks for the great info! We are moving to the villages May/June. I'm making a list of to do's and this was very helpful!

Thanks everyone for your help on this. One last question for everyone...I've seen references to sunpass, ez pass, epass, etc. I'm assuming that these are all different. When I get to town, any thoughts on which one to get? I've gone online and can't figure out why I would pick one over the other...

Search previous threads for a longer discussion of the differences between these but bottom line, Sunpass Pro will work well for you.
