Last, if masks potentially do more harm than good, why has ever CDC interview been followed with a statement about how a mask shortage would adversely affect first responders and medical personnel’s ability to do their jobs?
Their logic is flawed so maybe masks are better than they say?

I am guessing you have no medical background. Medical personal wear masks to keep from infecting you, Since they have been exposed to 100 people by the time they see you. Masks are becoming scarce in hospital settings. Unless you work there you will not know when surgery will be postponed until proper items are restored
