Years ago when we left CT for CA, we started going out with three kids, dressed up and special! Always meatless for me! The tradition continues here in GA, with youngest daughter and we have found a great little Italian restuarant, in Woodstock, GA, for the Feast of the Seven Fishes! (Previous post). Next year, in TV, depending on what family is with us... Will be looking for a good seafood menu. Will probably be asking all of you for suggestions!

Turkey and dressing (for Dad), spiced plum ham (for those who like traditional), mashed potatoes (doctored up properly), fresh corn, green beans, cranberry-orange relish, pumpkin pie, banana cream pie (again, for Dad), and a whole lotta family time. Add in dogs, gifts, etc. We aren't fancy, but we enjoy ourselves.

We have prime rib, twice baked potatos, broccoli casserole, baby peas, carrots with butter and parmesean, biscuits and Christmas cookies. This year the desserts are vanilla mousse cheesecake and chocolate cream pie.

We went to our neighborhood Hostaria for Christmas lunch. Turns out the "Seven Fish Dinner" originated in 2 small villages in Italy and moved to NY-NJ when the residents immigrated to the USA; it is no longer a custom in Italy. In Rome, we got antipasto (with several bits of seafood and chicken liver bruschetta), then lasagna, and finally "carne misto" (a mix of baked pork, veal, and lamb/pistachio loaf). The salad on the side is only eaten in Rome; we didn't know what it was but it proved tasty, somewhat like cole slaw.
