does anyone ferment their own vegetables?
I am interested in learning more about fermented foods like kefir and kombucha and wonder if anyone here makes there own and would like to share their experience. Please reply here or leave a pm.

pickled and fermented are totally different. Fermented vegetables have trillions of good probiotics and done with whey. Pickled veggies are done with vinegar, which is good too. Fermented is really a boost to your health.

Fermented foods are raw and unprocessed as in no heat used to preserve or "can" them. Sauerkraut is excellent when it's fermented and has trillions of probiotics in it without taking a pill and also very cheap to produce and lasts for months in the fridge. You shred cabbage and pound it with a little salt and pack it in jars, also you can use whey or starter cultures too. There is more to the process but all veggies can be fermented as our ancestors did many many years ago. When you google fermented food there is a whole world of health benefits that will surprise you.
I don't think many people will see this post as it is not on the front page anymore but I was looking for people to share ideas and success stories. Now that I have tweaked your interest check it out. |
