Depends on how severe the shellfish allergy is. If they're at the anaphylactic shock stage, most definitely yes. If they're at the itching and hives stage, a small amount of wasabi should be no big deal.

Re: Dry Mustard??

Just for you Russ:

Zaansemosterdsoep (Dutch Mustard Soup)
This Dutch soup is traditionally made with mustard from the Zaan. Any mustard with whole mustard seeds will work well too.

Makes (4 cups)

1 litre (cup) water
2 chicken or vegetable broth cubes
125 ml (1/2 cup) creme fraiche
2 tablespoons mustard, with whole mustard grains
125 ml smeerkaas (spreadable cheese; you want it to melt well)
4 tablespoons cornstarch
salt and pepper
1 spring onion, chopped
bacon bits

Bring water to boil. Add creme fraiche, mustard and cheese; whip until smooth. Add cornstarch. When the soup thickens, add salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with onion. Serve with bacon bits on the side.

Thank you to all of you for not letting my dry mustard question hang out there all alone. And not only did I get my answer, but I learned other stuff, too.

And SWR, I love it that you have actually been to a mustard museum in England. I'll bet not too many people have ever had that experience. And Tal says there is one in Wisconsin. And I am just so glad that I did not imagine such a thing as a mustard museum.

I have the feeling that many of you are exceptional cooks.

You are, indeed, kind strangers.

I have been using Keen's my entire life and it has never let me down. Also, has excellent shelf life.
Enjoy.
