Default Our 2020 Thanksgiving Dinner

Our usual 20 sitting at our table this yeas was 18 short. Our dining room table is big, so everyone can sit at the big table. Set with my thanksgiving dinnerware with center pieces. But this year was different, yet I cooked the same as normal.

Tradition should never change

Brined fresh Turkey (cause most from the south either brine or fry)

Oyster dressing for my granddaddy (who is no longer with us)
Wide greenbean cooked forever with ham hock for granny (no longer with us)
Candied Yams for my dad (also gone)

Grilled corn for Son and Grandson ( it’s the only veggie they will eat)
Black olives for my daughter and grandson, (alway eats them on their fingers)
Baked beans with bacon for my Mom
Fresh Cranberries for my granddaughter
Brussel Sprout salad ( the oldest, and wife are vegetarian)
Ham for son in law cause he hates turkey
Homemade gravy for other half cause the only one that uses it.
Homemade rolls that I didn’t burn this year thanks to Alexa.

Homemade Pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and homemade cannolis for all

Thanks to modern technology we all had dinner together, with our Alexa’s
Not sure if everyone was honest, but they all missed not being here, their dinner was not as good as mine

After packed up 10 dinners in special containers that keeps food warm for hours. Then delivered to friends that were alone this year.

Hope everyone had a close to normal Thanksgiving

Thanks for sharing your table. I completely agree with your philosophy. My only change in the menu was the honey butternut squash was substituted with roasted garlic buttermilk mash potatoes this year and... all non household members were invited by Zoom.

Thanks for sharing..... cooked the traditional dinner too, did the best under the circumstances, did some extra decorating in house and on tree this year, anything to make things more cheerful. Sure miss those cookie exchanges though, won't be the same but, maybe save a few extra pounds ?

We cooked a turkey for Thanksgiving. Stayed home and watched TV. Same as every other day, minus the turkey.

Sounds like you had a table full of people to me.

And thank you for physically keeping it small. You are helping to not Covid around by not transmitting from someone who is asymptomatic but spreading their Covid unknowingly. Thank you again!

What a wonderful thing to do. I'm sure this one Thanksgiving via ZOOM or whatever, will be the most memorable one, even without all of the folks sitting right at your table.

Great job sharing your Thanksgiving that way. I'm intrigued by a table that seats 20 people, though!

Thank you for sharing. Even though our 11 was 8 short, we cooked the traditional meal just the same.
