Fridge

My number 1 rule for food is:
When in doubt, throw it out out. It’s always better to be safe then sorry. Good luck with the debate.

As for the statement "when in doubt throw it out". That concerns me a little. My wife keeps checking me out for an expiration date. She can't find one but she's starting to doubt. Should I be concerned?

Hmm is that why there are so many widows around here?

I’m with you Ryk.

A-1 Sauce
Chicken soup base
Hot sauces
Ketchup

I say that even thought the label says "best by 2016" there are so many preservatives (read: salt) that they won't spoil. What do you think?

Tell him to get out of the refrigerator. Many times those dates mean nothing.

I found a way for the pantry on New Years eve I use a sharpie and write the year on all the items in it they are than used first. seldom are any left on the next new years eve.

IF it isn't growing....eat it! Improves the immune system!

Yes most products last longer than best by date. I even drank milk that was 2 weeks beyond the date. And bread in the fridge lasts a month.

I use the sniff test - if it doesn’t smell good, toss it AND if it’s growing “hair” throw it. Food stays in my refrig way longer than the exp date.

Biggest scam and a waste of good food.

2016 😆😆😆.. Now that is 😁 funny. Toss it for sure. Start over with fresh EVERYTHING. Even bottle water.

NavyVet 09-03-2020 11:03 PM

Too funny! My spouse won't eat ANYTHING even one day past the expiration date!

If the water is in a sealed container why get rid of it?

I think it has something to do with the plastic containers. I had a case of Aquafina for quite awhile. When I opened one I noticed it tasted funny compared to a recently purchased one. I don't know if it was bad or not but I tossed it anyway. It is recommended that you do not keep water in plastic bottles in your car. Again, something to do with the plastic.

What about beer? Soft drinks?
