Pretty much, yeah.

But if you're gonna EAT your dinner and not DRINK it - you need to cook the rice in the same pot as the veggies, stock, and meat. It absorbs all those flavors. Otherwise it's just soup or stew over plain rice. Which is fine, if that's what you want that day. I like meat and veggies with my rice, not rice with my soup.

You are welcome! Sometimes I feel uncreative making my grocery list so it's nice to have suggestions different from my usual rotation of dinners.

Lot's of talented cooks at TV! Thanks everyone!

Brown rice takes 2 hours at gaba setting (reason for slow cooking is to preserve the taste and rice cooker holds it warm all, day so you can start the rice at breakfast) and I order only the best tasting Nishiki rice from Amazon as you don’t have to add any condiments, gravy, or anything to this rice.

Oh, and the wine is Rutherford Sauvignon Blanc 2017 (Napa). Both the rice and the wine are from California.

That sounds delicious! Which rice cooker do you have ? I am looking for a smaller one for two people and don’t know which one to get ! Thank you

Tonight I think it will just be homemade hummus on rice cracker.

What's cookin' at YOUR house?

Chicken Parmesan. My husband made a nice sauce with a 4 oz. can of tomato sauce, onions, garlic, dried Italian herbs, and a dash of red pepper flakes. I thin sliced one large chicken breast, dipped in egg wash and then breadcrumbs. Sauté the breasts in olive oil. Put a bit of shredded mozzarella on the bottom (so the chicken won't stick to dish) of a glass baking dish. Lay the lightly cooked chicken on top, pour the sauce all over. Top with more mozzarella and some grated parmesan. Bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes till lightly browned and bubbly. These huge breasts make four servings senior sized.

What’s For Dinner

We eat out a few times a week but this week we made (he’s a great sous chef) a Cobb Salad, two varieties of chicken wings; one was teriyaki and the other was a ginger/orange/garlic glaze and a shrimp pizza c zucchini, roasted garlic, greens and cheeses. Planning on baked chicken thighs accompanied by corn on the cob and sauteed brussel sprouts for tonight. Happy Friday everyone!

I like grape jelly instead of peanut butter. But ruffles is a must and I always put the chips on the sandwich! Yum!

You should try grape jelly on a McDonalds sausage McMuffin (I think they sell for about $7.50 each these days)

Like what you did with the Cobb. It looks like an Italian antipasto from a place up north I frequent. All looks good

Last night we had company and I made shrimp scampi using Argentina Reds, over thin pasta, spinach and walnut salad, hot crusty rolls. Dessert was peaches and ice cream. The peaches are from Sam's bottled in Spain and they are delicious. Pinot Grigio.

Zoyirushi rice cooker. The “fuzzy” version. We tried several brands this one does everything and is easy to use. I think husband got it on Amazon.

Sounds good but I would need triple sauce even just for one !!!

I'm definitely more of a "baker" than I am a "cook" but I do a few entrees pretty well.

AMB444 03-17-2024 02:18 PM

Today my daughter and I made super easy veggie soup in the insta pot. We're gluten free so instead of crusty bread for a side we'll toast up some gf bagels.

lg potato
2 med carrots
peas
corn
1/2 c chopped onion
can of petite cut tomatoes
carton of veg broth
LOTS of garlic
1 TB olive oil
1 tsp Italian seasoning

5 minutes in insta pot

after it's done we'll add fresh baby spinach and steamed zuke,
top with shred parm, minced fresh basil
salt to taste

O, so you watch what you’re cooking, hence the chef or baker. Cooks set timer and walk off…:beer3:

Topspinmo 03-18-2024 08:41 AM

Had chicken shyt (AKA chicken casserole) with my added home grown Cajun belles, pimento, and big Jim’s peppers. Little warm depending on peppers, around 500 to 5000 plus on SHC.

Health benifits of hot peppers.

“Fiery peppers pack major health perks. In terms of vitamin C, they beat oranges 3 to 1. They're also stuffed with vitamins A, B, and E. Some studies suggest capsaicin acts as an antioxidant to protect your cells and helps tamp down inflammation.”

I grown about 5 to 7 different kinds of peppers from seed starts in pots. I also make peppers crushed pepper flakes.

I can’t take too much hot spice does it still work if you drown it with yogurt?

Not an expert but I would think that it would still be beneficial. Indian curries are sometimes served with raita which is yogurt and spices.

Tomorrow is Taco Tuesday. I can hardly wait!

Growing up in New Mexico I ate some form of chile dish every day. Beef and chicken enchiladas, tamales, carne adovada, burritos, tacos, pozole, menudo, huevos rancheros and chiles rellenos so around here I find most of the food very bland. Maybe my tastebuds are burned out but that is the way it is. Red or green? Hot Thai food is great but not the same.
