Default $50 Temporary Resident ID

I will be renting in The Villages September 1-9. In the past when I have rented for 7 or 8 days, the owners just gave me a guest pass (I don't golf), so I could use the pools and the rec. centers. When I asked the owner of the home I am renting in September if I could get a guest pass for my upcoming stay, he said he would prefer I get a guest pass from "someone else." Don't know why he prefers this, and I didn't ask. The owner lives in The Villages, and he owns the second home as a rental property.

I have emailed the landlord about me getting the $50 temporary resident ID to use during my upcoming rental, but I haven't heard back from him yet. What is the procedure/paperwork involved with getting the $50 temporary resident ID card?

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Is that true even if the landlord owns one house in TV (he lives there year round), and the home I will be occupying in September is his full-time rental property located in a different Village from his primary residence?

That's what I thought. Thank you confirming that.

For a short stay and non-golfer, the $50 temp id is a waste of money. Regular free guest pass should be fine. I can't think of any reason why the owner won't get you one other than a minimal amount of effort on their part. Heck, any TOTV friend could get you a guest pass.

If you are renting from him, the owner needs to get the guest pass for you.

I'm sure you have given him a deposit...if not, please contact me. I have a home very close to Spanish Springs that is available in September and I'll be glad to get you the guest pass.

I rented before I purchased. Never needed to spend 50 bucks on a pass.

If you are renting there is a Villages ID pass associated with each property needed for golf. It costs $50 for two and is either paid by you or charged by the landlord which some include in the rent fee. This is a pass through cost paid directly to the Villages. The renter has to pick up these passes in Lake Sumter Landing at the sales office.

The second option is a guest ID. These are free and must be picked up by the landlord. They are good for everything but golf and even OK for golf but the person who got the ID for you makes the tee time, not you.

Each require the same information with one exception. The property ID requires your cell phone number while the guest ID requires your date of birth. Both require your full names, dates you will be here and your home address and property address. For guest ID the property address can be the rental property or the person getting the ID's address which they already have as the person getting the ID has to enter their Villages ID number.

The temporary villages ID would also allow you to use the sports pools, whereas the guest ID would not. Your landlord needs to step up and do this for you, whether you pay or he pays. Makes me think he is already using the temporary villages ID for someone else somehow.

maybe.....the owner is allowing friends from a different development to use his rental resident ID's? and this is why he can only get the new tenant guest ID's.

My opinion.....something is funny.....find another rental...

Agree. Something's not right there.
