Default 2 car garage and golf cart

We like a spec house that has an extended garage but not the
added golf cart garage.
Can you somehow fit 2 cars and a cart?
Thanks for any input.

We had an extended garage on our Camellia in Hadley.

We could NOT have fit two cars and a golf cart.

We have a Lantana ... two cars and a cart are parked in it, along with other stuff. The cart fits behind one of the cars, parked sideways....side towards the back of the car. A friend with a Lantana has two cars and a cart, all parked parallel to each other.

Get out ye old measuring stick and check the dimensions of your cars. Look at the specs for the brand/year of golf cart you'd be considering. The check the floor plan(s) for the house model(s) you'd be considering......and realize those aren't going to be guaranteed to be exact measurements.

Then you can decide for yourself if it'll all fit.

If you think you'll be cramped for space, find a house that has a similar sized garage with a golf cart garage as well. Very few people will ever tell you they have too much garage and/or storage space. But you'll find many people who will tell you they wished they'd have bought something with more space.

We really like the Ivy and wanted the golf cart garage.
Going tomorrow to look at it and will definitely measure
the garage.
Thanks for your great replies!

We have an Amarillo and park the car on the left side and pull in the 2 carts one behind the other on the right side. No problem except we have to move one to get the other out. We also have some shelves along the wall on one side and a workbench and cabinet and freezer in the front. Still room to walk through.

2-car plus the golf cart garage is the way to go.
The homes with the inboard golf cart garage don't give you as much depth as an outboard golf cart garage, but are still very desirable.
Homes with extended 2-car garages can also help with a second car or golf cart.
They also use 18' and 20' wide doors on many of the 2-car garages witch helps with entry and exit, opposed to the normal 16' wide door.

We had friends in Pennecamp that routinely parked 1 car and 2 carts in their Whispering Pine. Occasionally, they would actually get both Hondas and both carts in.

That's our one regret about buying this house, no golf cart garage. We would have added one if we could, but have no room. Is there room to add one if you change your mind later?

Short answer is-----it all depends on how big your cars are and how extended your garage happens to be. A tape measure will give you the answer in your case. Obviously, the most convenient would be a two car garage with a golf cart garage----it will also be the most expensive as you will need a lot larger than the standard village lot. Regardless, I would highly recommend extending the garage depth by 2 feet---you will be glad you did!

I have a mini cooper & BMW x5 (suv). I can get my golf cart and mini on the left side and X5 on right. (I have a Bridgeport) I do have shelves around my garage also.

Get rid of 1 car and it will fit.
We moved here with 2 cars; 1 of which we never drove only 500 miles annually before moving here. After we got our cart we passed that mark in months so we sold the convertible "toy"
Now our 1,100sf garage is too huge but oh well. I can ride my bike inside on rainy days at least in circles.

It turns out the garage is an extended garage (4 feet to the right).
I think we'll be okay.
Otherwise one car will have to go!
The water view was too hard to turn up vs. no golf cart garage!

If you do not have the added golf cart garage, you will be regretting it every day. Do not make that mistake and go for the golf cart garage. There are plenty of homes with water views for sale with the golf cart garage.

We bought a Lantana, with an extended garage forward 2'. Golf cart garage same length as 2-car garage. Overall, enough room for 2 cars and 2 carts. Big enough to have a polka dance party! Jimbo will be calling the music (or is that square dancing)?
