I doubt the cars will be updated, I have a 2012 car that the manufacturer (Ford) stopped support for the computer system 6 years ago, I am sure they will not offer an update for the cellular connectivity.

Try getting Microsoft to support an older computer running Windows XP. What will you do when that 8 year old TV shoots craps? You get the idea. Netflix and Amazon Prime quit working on my TiVo. I forced an update, it downloaded the required software, and my TV is smart again. Everything works. The regular updates must just renew the schedule information.
