My guess is that it will be done when the five banks are done.

As for the part going from TV to 301, it is the same contractor who did the 441 project. So expect that to be done 2 weeks after hell freezes over.

I feel sorry for the business impact. I used to eat breakfast at the Coffee House a lot. But because of the challenge in getting there I go to Fruitland Park Cafe now. I just hope they don't screw them both up to the point I have to find a Villages option for breakfast.

I may be wrong but as I recall the plan for widening 466A to 441 starts with construction as you indicated from Colony to just past the Micro Track Rd, then Lake County starts at the other end at 441 and comes toward the Villages but stops approx 1/2 mile short of the initial construction from Colony. That 1/2 mile in between has not been funded. Either way, this looks like a disaster.

It is not uncommon in Florida for the county to steer most road construction to one favored contractor.

That contractor starts work on one stretch, then moves on to another and then another. He goes through the funds and cannot afford to finish what he starts, so the county awards another contract so he can use the funds for previously awarded and unfinished work. And so on and so on.

It is a never ending cycle of ineptitude entirely endorsed by elected officials.

I don't understand all I know about this stuff, but isn't all that suppose to be taken care of in the planning before dirt is even broken?

Not sure where you live but in PA 10 miles of freeway takes a minimum of 4-5 years...if the weather is good and their isn't an annual budget fight. And then there is the resurfacing required 4 years after completion.

Route 80 is 300 miles long in PA. I guess construction can move more quickly when they want it to. I couldn't find out how long that took to build, but it's a remarkable accomplishment.

No system of percentage of completion draws, no retainage percentage until final approval of the contract, no deadline penalties????. If all that is true, here is great fodder for Lauren Ritchie and her "investigative column". It is almost criminal not to include and enforce these in construction contracts.:22yikes:

This road needs to be completed and take the heavy traffic off the bypass road. We have been here 2 1/2 years and it closed shortly after we moved in. This is extremely SLOW construction and The Villages should push for this to be completed!

How, exactly, does a road apply for a permit?

I can just picture a big slab of asphalt standing in line at City Hall.

Indeed. And how exactly does a dog drive?

I googled it. Fox shows how they do it in New Zealand: click here
My dog would chase his tail. Which might be good training for the circles.

You never know ! If something happens, the dog might have to take over and drive the car. :loco:

I hope not. My dog is a terrible driver. If he sees a cat on the way to the hospital, I'm doomed.
