Default dishwasher has bad odor

Question. Has anyone had a bad odor come from dishwasher. Brand new G.E. and it's not bad water or sewer smell, it's more like the plastic has it in it. Off or on it has the smell, worse after using it.

It sounds like there is something wrong in the cycle that heat is on and water is not...thus the overheated plasticy smell.

Gracie.
Not an electrical engineer.

Hope it is under warranty.

Gracie is correct.Sounds like an electrical problem.I would suggest you stop using it and call the Villages warranty dept.

4 weeks ago, I installed a new Amana (made by Maytag). When first installed, mine also has/had a strange plastic smell when opening the tub but the odor is dissapating with time. Figured it was outgassing of the new plastic tub.

Being that I was the guy that put it in...other wise I'd make the installer check it out to be safe.

We also had that burning plastic smell. It did disappear after a few months.

Sounds silly but this works... use Tang in the detergent cup. It deodorizes the dishwasher and rids it of the odors!

We had the same smell with our dishwasher - it did disappear after a few months - no problems.

Not only does Tang remove odors but it also removes those rust colored stains. To remove stains use at least half a cup and toss it right into the bottom of the dishwasher and run a cycle. Works like a charm!
