I realize that some are having trouble following the point of this post. There really shouldn't have to be a point, since most people should care how many sex offenders live on their street. Especially given the frenzied panic that some seem to go into every time a crime happens.
There is a certain group of posters here who seem to want to blame every bad thing that happens on somebody's grandkids or kids (while their own kids and grandkids are angels, of course). The point is, there are OLD PEOPLE who commit crimes, too. Many from the "ethical generation".
While many want to think I am bashing TV, and therefore respond with questions about my hometown (how clever!), that is not the case at all. As a matter of fact, there is one offender on that list who does some contract work for me!
Why do I care? I own a home there and spend a lot of time there. Is that ok?

And to those who have sent PM's and emails, thanks for your kind words!

I have wondered this so I will ask. What exactly is an "old people"? There are a lot seniors here in TV and some of them are very ethical and others not so much. A good many are old as dirt.

There are people that will absolutely lie to your face about their grandchildren. I had one woman tell me that her grandchildren were the most beautiful and the smartest in the whole world. This was just yesterday she said this. I didn't say anything to this poor misled soul.

Mine are.

Patty55 08-02-2013 09:08 AM

Again, if you look at the actual addresses not many of them live in TV, but why confuse a strong opinion by interjecting the facts.

You know, it's always something. If it's not poodles piddling on the crabgrass lawn it's people saving chairs or an indulging in an overload of exclamation points!!!

A very astute person often reminds you all that it's sometimes not easy to adapt to life here. We're all on small lots, it's not always easy to respect the privacy of others.

Oh, the drama.

Good seeing people doing research about sexual offenders.

Found this in a search. Florida

I have wondered just how up-to-date this registry really is. http://www.jdsupra.com/legalnews/who...a-sex-r-76748/

I always try to help those poor misguided souls from the Village of Denial who tell me they're too young to live here by telling them "Realllly, you sure LOOK old enough."

We all have to do our part y'know.

Gracie, everyone's grandchildren are the smartest and most beautiful. I know mine are. I bet yours are too.

Yep. That was the point I was trying to make. My humor and my exaggerations which I thought were poetic licenses are just getting me in all kinds of trouble this week, Jeanne. Do YOU belong to my generation? I think you are very ethical, by the way.

sigh.

I can see that. Thanks. Nowadays, perhaps more than in the past, it is definitely necessary to know the facts (in black and white as you say).

I'm glad you've brought this subject forward........as when I found it awhile ago, it was kind of negated to an unnecessary discovery.

Hey, had he not been caught, it could be someone the likes of Ariel Castro of Cleveland Ohio moving in to TV with his entourage of enslaved women.....

The following is a map showing the locations of the 72 sex offenders within a 5 mile radius of LSL. Quite a few are Villages residents.

I just showed this map to my husband. He also thinks it is quite a lot.

((We notice three in our town/vicinity in Vermont. Non violent offenses.))

I remember being very very very surprised the first time I researched the same subject, a few years ago......with regard to The Villages. Somehow, it just didn't enter my mind that so many would be living near or in TV.
And remember, it doesn't matter if they live there, as they can frequent the bars and the squares in the evening..........anyone can.

As hubby says, All perverts are going to age. Where will the end up?
In a retirement community. In Florida. No doubt they are also in other parts of Florida as well........for the same reason everyone else comes, to escape the snow and the cold...........

Again, I definitely would check out the street and the village to make sure we didn't expose our own visiting grandchildren to this type of person....

Has anyone actually made a graph of the streets , or a list, so we can refer to our big map???? Your research is appreciated.

Golfingnut 08-02-2013 01:03 PM

One in 10,000 is not a lot. The map shows lady lake and wildwood, but less than a dozen in all of the villages.

Bogie Shooter 08-02-2013 01:09 PM

Graphs, pie charts, lists, power point slides................I sense paranoia is setting in.

Sex Offender Statistics | Statistic Brain

Read the link. The Villages is very low per capita. Geeezzzzzz.

senior citizen 08-02-2013 01:20 PM

Registered sex offenders in The Villages, Florida - crimes listed, registry-based, living in this city

Registered Sex Offenders in The Villages, Florida.

I just checked as of August 2013. Seems like quite enough of them.
It would be a concern to those with visiting grandchildren.
Not everyone is a swinging single who wishes to relocate to TV.....
I just read all of their backgrounds.
You can also find listings for those in the bordering towns on the perimeter of TV.

What is good about this link......click on the link which brings you to their picture and personal data.
Mr. McNutt doesn't look that dangerous , does he? But what about someone dating him from one of the bars?

senior citizen 08-02-2013 01:47 PM

That's it for today. It's all we can take. Just read of one whose crime was with a child under age 10. A lot of them are pedophiles. Living in The Villages. WE clicked on each link and amidst the elderly ones were plenty of younger ones in their early 40's.

Glad the original poster brought up this topic again.....as better safe than sorry.

The younger ones must be living with their retired parents.
Not a normal situation at all.

Bogie Shooter 08-02-2013 01:51 PM

Hooray!!!!

Patty55 08-02-2013 01:58 PM

Okie Dokie, we just went from 72 to 15 (by my count). What I noticed is that more than a few offended in another state before they lived here, some were using the computer to lure and one or two were into kiddie porn.

If you want to protect your granchildren educate them and have some spatial awareness. Don't leave them unattended on the computer, don't give them alone time with anyone.

If you all feel that threatened maybe you should stay where you feel safe.

gomoho 08-02-2013 02:19 PM

was thinking the same things Patty - thanks for putting it into words

Bill Tasker 08-02-2013 02:44 PM

I wonder why Vermont is so high? It really doesn't have a high population.

perrjojo 08-02-2013 03:14 PM

Ok, this is somewhat tongue in cheek...but here goes. I would think TV is a great place for sex offenders..lots of old people, not as much temptation. Very few young children. Ok, so Grandchildren do come to visit but, honestly, are they EVER out of your sight when here. I doubt it. I think we need to be more concerned with all of the homeless school children living in our Tri county area than sex offenders.

I am, perrjojo.:agree:

I know this is going to be very hard for you all to wrap your head around (no sarcasm intended), but sometimes the grandparents are the offenders. Generally an offender is someone the child trusts... parent, step-parent, cousins, grandparents and of course the mothers boyfriend. Then you throw in people who want to be around children, teachers, scout leaders and what have you. The odds that your grandchild will be picked off the street in TV are slim, the odds are that if there were to be a problem it would be within your extended family or circle of close friends.

NOW, can we please return to our usual topic....

A poodle piddles on my petunias.... What should I do?

Did the poodle show up at your petunias because of getting your address in an online chatroom.........that happened to be a sting operation?
Arrest him and throw the book at him........................

A public urination conviction can land you a sex offender label. Believe it or not

gomoho 08-02-2013 05:16 PM

Sorry Patty, but my poodle only piddles on pansies in pursuit of ****ing off some people that possibly believe poodles piddling on pansies is a problem cause perfect pansies are a priority. Saw that fast 3 times.

My perfect pen pals poodle peter ****ed on pansies prior to picking a pan to prepare polish pizza for pals.

First of all, the whole sexual predators list is ridiculous, there needs to be a clear definition of people put on this list. As a previous poster stated, teenagers can get on this list by having consensual relations with a girlfriend a year or two younger (I have seen it happen)..also, if someone is caught urinating in an alley or other place outdoors, they can be convicted and put on the list. Some of the residents in this area grew up when college kids thought it was funny to 'streak'...this is also a crime punishable by having to register as an offender. I despise pedophiles and others that are actually guilty of sexual violations but I'm not going to label someone in my neighborhood until I know the actual story. If I'm made aware that someone is on the registry, you better believe I will keep a close eye on my grandchildren and be careful when around the individual, but I will save my judgment until I know more information. Besides that, think of statistics..the percentage of offenders actually getting caught and convicted is very small....how many of your neighbors have just managed to get away with it? Scary thought, isn't it?

Amen! My husband was on a sexual offender jury where the Grandfather had been abusing his nieces and Grandchildren for years.
