Have you been here? You are only about 45 minutes away. It would be good just to initially drive up for lunch and a ride on the tram and a look at some of the models.

Graciegirl,
Yes we been up there a few times but I really can't get a feel you can't go to the club houses or gym or anything so you just relly can't get the feel I think it's better to stay for a week or two just to talk to people who live there and see if it's for you. tks or you reply. Enjoy your day |

Have you tried these sites?
There is a For Rent By Owner site here. And I can also highly recommend JD Management. They have that website but you might want to give them a call as they often have listings that are either not yet posted or are more fleixible than what is shown on their site - e.g. weekly instead of only monthly. Can't speak for the first link but we've used JD and I think if you search the forums, you'll see that they were recommended by others. Happy hunting!!

I would come and rent here for at least a month. Take your time and get a feel for where you want to be. The best site to rent is www.thevillages4rent.com.

This brings up a question I have. How is one rental site better than another? Thanks...

I listed both sites in my reply above. I think there's actually 2 pieces to your question though:
1) the site itself - in which case I personally like the more professional looking layout of the For Rent By Owner one (http://thevillages4rent.com/). In addition to being organized better, it gives you the ability to search. 2) the vendors - this one again comes down to personal preference, I guess. The JD Management site (http://thevillagesforrentbyowner.com/) is owned by that property management company which renters may prefer dealing with than the actual property owners. Just my personal opinion --- to quote Russ' sig

Thank You Everyone
I think we will rent for about 3 weeks .I think it's a big move for us and I am a little scared of change. Oh I will move somewhere next year my husband will retire and we sold our house and were renting right now. I never even thought it be harder to pick a place to move to than sell our home that is alway's the easy part for us lol the hard part is finding a place to live .We been in Fl for 15 yrs in Windermere for the past 7 yrs But we need to down size and I don't want to keep moving .WELL TKS AGAIN I will rent from one of these sites .

Quote:
With thevillagesforrentbyowner.com the renter is dealing with a professional company, in this case, JD Management. Having rented my place through three different companies, including The Villages Property Management, I can attest to the terrific attention to detail, efficiency and reliability of JD Manangement and how important that is for the renter. Even if most individual owners who rent their properties in The Villages are honest, conscientious landlords, I submit only the very best of them put together a package as outstanding as JD Management, which requires that every property meet literally hundreds of specific standards. Some individual owners simply don't know how to make their places completely and attractively furnished. Some aren't objective about good and bad points of their properties. In short, unless the renter has direct knowledge of a property, there is significant risk in dealing with a individual owner as opposed to a highly recommended professional company.
