It is the newer, thicker, longer lasting version of AC filter I think. Thank you.
We do not know what ac you have so do not know what filter you need. We have a Carrier
you can buy filters at Publix and Sparrs, probably many others. I buy the original carrier filters mail order and they are only a few dollar more than the knock offs. I guess that is what you have as you say newer, longer lasting. The original carriers cost me 79.00 for two-delivered no tax

Buy on Amazon. Munn's has to make a profit.

I have been buying from discountfilters.com for five years now. Filters are good and fit better than any I have bought.

Default Replacing HVAC Filter May Have Cured my Sneezing

I usually sneeze between 5 and 15 times every morning and have done so for a long time.. My wife said it might be due to a dirty HVAC filter. I checked my filter which had been in use for over a year and it was pretty dirty. I replaced it with the same make and model MERV 8 filter from Home Depot. I can hardly believe it but I've only sneezed once in the last 4 days much as I hate to admit my wife may have been right about a mechanical hardware issue.

You could have bought some sneezing powder and never admit that she was right.

I got a new AC from Sun Kool last January. They have been here twice to check the AC but said the filter didn’t need to be replaced. I said I would buy one but was told the size is only available through them. Makes me angry. Trusted them to use them for a $6000 AC but can’t get a new filter

I think what they told you is hogwash. I would shop around online for a replacement filter. It is also not necessary to pay them to come and check the AC.

I don't know anything about Sun Kool so they may have a very odd size. If you look around on Amazon, other online stores, Ace, and Lowe's it is likely that you will find a filter with the correct dimensions.

As others have mentioned, don't rely on the size printed on the filter, measure it yourself. This goes for both the one you are replacing and the one in the store. (Obviously, you can't measure the online purchase before it is delivered)

Sun Kool doesn't make HVAC units. They are a contractor who mostly sells Carrier equipment. Some HVAC units use flexible accordian type filters that may not be available in local stores. But, they are definitely available for purchase online, as are any size filter you want. Some filter companies will even make you a custom sized filter. There is no excuse for a contractor to tell a customer that they must buy filters from them. Absurd.

I order online and they come two to a pack. Filters USA much less expensive and better than what the AC companies sell you!

Venture off the Res.. to Ace Hardware in Wildwood great store wonderfull staff have enormous inventory including your filter, irrigation parts lawn and garden....... they greet you at the door and direct you to what you want. I'm betting the one in SS is similar although not sure about lumber mulch etc.

I don't need a filter, but, just for information, can you make a permanent or throw away filter to replace the expanding, accordion style filters used in some HVAC units? They come in a thin box and you need to stretch them out and slide them into grooves in the AC unit.

Actually, unless it is a VERY unique return there will be a standard (in full inches) filter to fit. I'd bet a 20X 16 will replace the one described above.

Never the less, if you are unsure take it to Ace and let them help. You will still save at least 60% of what any service will charge.

You should consider paying an AC contractor to remove your current filter housing and replace it with the Aprilaire style. They really clean the air in your house and remove almost all the dust which makes a big difference when you clean all your furniture. I'm not an Aprilaire salesperson and speak from real-life experience having purchased this system last year. Next, I replace them as needed by buying them on Amazon. The swap out of the system is about 300$ Replacement filters on amazon are about $40
