It's economics, car drivers get very expensive tickets and surcharges on their insurance, so most of them at least come to a rolling stop at the stop signs. Have you ever seen a bicyclist get a ticket for going through a stop sign?

If you are talking about the gate near the new post office, it’s probable because the Villages owns the property and are allowed to do that.

The gates serve a purpose , they slow down people , they help with the flow of traffic and they are somewhat of safety measure at night because of the cameras police have been able to catch some people for violations and burglary. I have also run into people outside of villages that think the gates are private and for those who complain about gates ., I wonder how the people living in old trailers and homes out in some rural town would feel when they have to push a button to get into public roads that they help pay for them
