Default Taxi Service

We are going on a cruise and was thinking about using a taxi service as the people that normally transport us will be out of town. From what I understand the Village Taxi is no longer in business even though they are listed in the phone book. I have seen A1 Taxi in the Villages. Does anybody on this list have any experience with these 2 companies as to reliability?

You are planning to use a Villages taxi to drive you all the way to the cruiseport? That is approximately a 4 1/2 hour drive to Ft. Lauderdale/Miami and would cost a fortune in a taxi.

Not used either of those, but friends have used Don Ried's taxi service to take them to Tampa cruise port - cost them under $100 (one way)

I guess I should elaborate. This is a group tour and we have to pick up the bus at SS.

Default A-1 Taxi . . .

We used this service in July and boy was it a mistake!!! The taxi was extremely old and dirty. It was July and the air conditioner was broken and the back windows didn't go down. The service was so bad, we got out and walked the last half of the trip. I forgot, on top of which they were extremely late in picking us up!! Hope this helps.

Why not call one of your Villages friends and ask them to help you?

I do have a friend that has offered to take us to the bus but just wanted to check to see if their were other alternatives.

No problem, I would take him and his wife to the Spanish Springs bus stop if he would like. I believe helping others is what Villagers do for each other.

I think we discussed that aspect of being a Villager when we had lunch at Urban Flats with RichieLion. When are you moving down here or visiting again?

We sure did. Funny you should ask. Was just getting the AutoTrain schedule a look see for November around Thanksgiving. The moving part will be delayed for a short while. She wants to work a little longer. I will run away in January/February until she comes to her senses.

There are lots of us around here (your neighbors) who would gladly assist you. Take advantage of where you live and embrace the fact that you might actually get to make some new friends.
