I've been reading all the comments and it's really not helpful if you cannot give the correct location of the store you visited. Here's a map with the 4 Ace Hardware Locations. They are Ace at Spanish Springs, Ace in Southern Trace on 466, Ace on 441 in Fruitland Park and Ace in Wildwood.

Four Ace Hardware Stores The Villages

Ace wildwood.

Last time I was in Ace wildwood, employee standing just inside the door (presumably to direct people) was wearing a great double canister mask ... On his chin. You couldn't avoid being within 2 feet of him as you came through the door. He spoke to nearly everyone coming into the store.
I used to appreciate the customer service. But, to me, this smacked of disregard/disrespect for customers safety. Retail establishments of all kinds undoubtedly know these are not normal times and must adapt if they want to maintain customer confidence and support.

ACE in Spanish Springs is being very diligent about limiting exposure.

Ace hardware at Spanish Springs goes above and beyond! I was extremely impressed. I was there before the state relaxed lock down. They limited the number who were in the store, plexiglass, social distancing. Fabulous service, I noted they even carry larger unusually sized filters for modern furnaces.

Walmart has also removed their 6 ft distant lines as well as the direction lines for the aisles.

Good idea. You always have the option of staying at home. You sound like the guy I saw in a golf cart with a cardboard sign taped to the front which read "6 feet away". Really? So many people are so terrified of dying from a virus which has a 98% survival rate than they refuse to or can't enjoy living. So sad.

Good idea, who.??

" Good idea". To whom are you responding?
Cardboard sign? His mobile message board?.?
"98% survival rate". Not for everyone. "One size fits all" thinking is not appropriate in this scenario.
As for "can't enjoy living", we do enjoy living and would like to continue to do so.
As for the option of staying home, even this is not always 100% practical or possible.
Yes, some are terrified, and, as far as any of us knows may have good reason to be terrified. But I and many others simply prefer to err on the side of caution. Please don't jump to conclusions or judge us too harshly simply because we would rather be safe than sorry.

After repeatedly checking Walmart Publix Lowes Winn Dixie they stocked cleaning supplies we needed. I wore a mask for my personal protection and left after paying and used alcohol wipes in car. Employees not speaking up for PPE is their problem can't worry about everyone taking care of my family is enough for me.

Glad you mentioned your experience. I need a few hardware items but after hearing your experience I’ll either wait or go elsewhere.

Which Ace store?

Villages Kahuna 05-17-2020 05:17 PM

Not 98% in my age group and with the pre-existing conditions I suffer. In my group it’s 98%, but that’s heading for pushing up daisies, not survival.

Your statistics sound like those we hear from the Presidential press conferences.

The masks do not protect you. The masks protect other people around you... from YOU !!!
Just think how neighborly it is!!! You are taking responsibility for protecting other people!!

There... I did my part for education today!

People people move on. There is a lot of medical information out there that masks are not a good weapon against infection. Antibodies are the answer!

For all of you still complaining about people without masks in the stores, why are you going out? You should know by now that many will not wear them. There is no law saying they have to. You can order everything you need for pick-up.

I had to go inside the store to pay for my propane tank that Ace filled. Sometimes, there is not a way out of having to go inside a store.

Your first comment is "Good idea". What is a good idea???? I have no idea because you did not reply using the [Reply With Quote] button. It is so much more enjoyable reading this forum when we don't have to play guessing games.

Too bad they don't fill empty grill propane tanks. :(
