Re: Addiction to TOTV?
Mornin': Okay, finally awake, had coffee, doggies had cookies, now I can post:
You know your addicted when,
Don't know about you folks, but I see my shrink tomorrow and guess what the topic of conversation is gonna be??? Happy New Year everybody, looks like 08 is gonna be extremely successful for TOTV but not sure about our personal relationships at home, however! Anyone want my shrink's name? Let me know. Love Kathie |
Re: Addiction to TOTV?
I propose that Doggie Doo Run to increase their revenue should have internet access and computer stations.
That way while the "masters and mistresses" can have fun while their puppies socialize. HB |
Re: Addiction to TOTV?
HB, you are a riot! arent we supposed to be socializing ourselves at Doggie Do Run? I guess totv is considered socializing but we gotta take a break once in a while! ::)
|
Re: Addiction to TOTV?
Nonie, check on the stats and ask Kathie.
Based on the number of hours, days and number of posts on TOTV there is a lot of non-face to non-face communication going on. Who knows perhaps some romances. When I wrote what I did, it was meant to be humorous and not taken seriously. What is serious is, not being able to log onto TOTV to often in the next month. From an Addict HB |
Re: Addiction to TOTV?
Ms Bouquet, told you I have a lot of Valium for you in Jan. You're gonna be having severe withdrawals during your trip.
I think the I'm gonna strap my puter onto my back so I can do TOTV anytime I want. Good Idea, huh. see ya later in chat, Love Kath |
Re: Addiction to TOTV?
Does checking in at least 3 times a day count as an addiction??
If so , I guess I need intervention. ::) ::) |
Re: Addiction to TOTV?
This topic has been alot of fun and I am amazed at how many addicted people are among us! What can we possibly attribute this to! :dontknow:
|
Re: Addiction to TOTV?
Kathie I think this is an excellent idea. Now all you have to do is create world wide free wireless internet service.
OMG - Can u imagine that? HB |
Re: Addiction to TOTV?
Barb, Nonie, HB, Beady, we are all just crazy!!! that's it.
xcuse me, anybody got a strap for me and my puter???? Love ya, K. |
Re: Addiction to TOTV?

Re: Addiction to TOTV?
We have been in TV for a week and this is the first time I have logged on. It has changed a bit (volume & bad drivers) but still active and fun. Now that I'm here I'm wondering why the folks who are on line constantly are not out doing something. It was cold the last two days but there was still lots of things to do. GET OUT - GET OFF THE COMPUTER - enjoy what you moved here for. Let the people in the snow up North fantasize about what's happening here.
Happy New Year and Enjoy TV  |
Re: Addiction to TOTV?
I will be more active as soon as
#1 The weather gets warmer #2 Snowbirds leave (I love many Snowbirds and one is my cousin but it is nice when the crowds are gone for awhile.) Welcome to TV !!!!!!! |

What addiction to TOTV asks the person with 11 days and 27 minutes and counting for stats? Us TOTV users are catching up to the Administrators Talk Host and Tony for time spent on TOTV. https://www.talkofthevillages.com/sm...p?action=stats |

Because I am grateful for all the assistance and support I received from TOTV members when I was a wannabee instead of a newbie. ;D We were living in Canada when we purchased a house in TV "sight unseen" in April 2007. We knew it would be late October before we would be coming to TV. During that six-month wait, TOTV posters were an incredible help! We managed to get some renovations done, house painted, tv/phone/cable hook-up arranged, etc., before we arrived. All through advise and assistance from the wonderful people on TOTV. :clap2: I made a promise to myself that after I moved to TV, I would try to offer any information or assistance I could to wantabees or newbies. Also, once I started living here I got to meet a whole bunch of wonderful people through TOTV gatherings. :beer2: Loving it in TV BF |

I do not think I would ever want to be barefoot in Canada with the winter cold and then the summer mosquitoes. |
Re: Addiction to TOTV?
We now have a home in TV - and all I can say is that my feelings are the same as Barefoot's. :agree:
We are now in a position to pass on all the extremely helpful info we received from other TV'ers who live in TV. They took the time out of their busy schedules to help others who they did not know. I think this speaks loud enough of the people who live in TV. You are all :#1: :#1: :#1: in my book. Thank you for all of your help - you made our transition to TV go smoother. Hyacinth Bucket |
Re: Addiction to TOTV?
Good, I'm going to rely on you guys when I'm making my transition. Thanks for all your help thus far. Its been great but there will be, I guarantee you, a lot more questions before I finally move there.
Love ya, Kath |

The Administrators do a very good job of keeping these boards on TOTV rather friendly, polite and civil even if the really virulent (poisonous) exchanges are more entertaining. |

Agree Tal, I'm movin on up, pretty quickly.
Guess I'm finally coming out of my "shyness".  That's my new goal, veteran member by Feb. 12!!! :super: Waa hoo!! 040 How many is that BTW??? :dontknow: K. |

Will you be a beautiful Rose, Gardenia, Orchid, what? I know one thing you will definitely not be a "bloomin onion." ;) HB |

Re: Addiction to TOTV?
Just to add my 2 cents about why I still post and read now that I am a Villager.
1) It's fun and entertaining. 2) I am still getting useful info from other members and Villagers 3) I'm afraid I will miss something 4) Need to keep in touch with forum friends, so many nice ,talented people. |
Re: Addiction to TOTV?
Good posts ladies.
But you'll see in Feb., I'm am truly shy and retiring.... Need to have help coming out of my shell. Beady, you're posts are great too. I feel the same way. Afaid I'll miss something - and aren't these people creative. HB and Donna, you're both nutcases - but I love ya. :-* :-* Kathie |
Re: Addiction to TOTV?
Addicted? - I was starting to shake because I hadn't spent enought time on TOTV in the past few days. Weekend is here and now I'll be checkin' a lot. Love reading through this post with all of you addicts. I'm going to have to start taking meds early for when we come to our new home in Feb as we don't have a computer there. OH MY, OH MY what will I do. Truly love all the info and reading the posts. You start to think you really know everyone who posts when in fact I haven't met anyone. :)

When you come to your new home in February: 1) Your computer won't be hooked up yet 2) You will join all the other bleary eyed newbies at Wal Mart shopping with their "lists" for hours every day and discussing with their spouses what colour towels to buy 3) If you don't have furniture, you'll spend the rest of your time at Southern Lifestyles, Rooms To Go, or Bargains and Treasures 4) You will not miss TOTV for at least a week, you'll be too darn tired Then one day you'll wake up and say "OMG, what have I missed, I need to get to a computer".. The local library has computers you can use for free. This will prompt you to get computer service in your house, and you'll be back to TOTV addiction in no time. 024 Been there, done that BF |
Re: Addiction to TOTV?
Barefoot,
I thought for awhile that Linen n Things was our home. Then there was Lowes and Home Depot. Staples for other supplies. At one point I thought we should sell our house in Belvedere and move to Spanish Springs. It felt like we could drive there with our eyes closes. HB |
Re: Addiction to TOTV?
Oh my Gosh, Ladies, you're scaring me! Is that what I have to look forward to??? I'd better bring a lot of Prozac, sounds like I'm gonna need them. ;D

Re: Addiction to TOTV?
Kathie,
I thought Valium was your med of choice. Since you are renting you can do all of these things at your own pace. I am sure golfnut will provide you with towels and things, but will he provide you with TP? HB |

I usually just listen for juicy gossip and watch my dog Sport though and stay calm and quiet. That's kind of difficult with some of the characters you find at Doggie Doo Run Run though-- both canine and human characters. |
Re: Addiction to TOTV?
Wow all of you are so experienced. I guess we'll be shopping a lot. Southern Lifestyles is putting a loaner couch in the house for us and our bed and one night stand will be there. Some furniture that we ordered won't be ready yet and the remainder will come from our home in NJ. We do have to go and get a washer & dryer and a TV and then continue to look for other things we will need. I've already shipped some boxes to empty nest to put in the house - towels, sheets, toilet paper, soap etc. as we don't arrive until about 8:30p and won't have a car or cart until the next day. You just don't realize the basics that you need until you start to shop. There are times it all seems overwhelming. When that happens I'll sit on the floor in the lanai and have a glass of wine. Guess you're right I won't be thinking of a computer too often.

Re: Addiction to TOTV?
When we were there, it was the regional rec centers only for wireless. Savannah Center also had computers available for those with resident ID's. I liked the system at the Savannah Center because the computers automatically shut down after an hour of use.
At The Villages branch of the public library, there was wireless access. The library also had computers available. I believe the time allowed was 45 minutes and a sign-in sheet was used. At the time school was letting out, those computers could get pretty busy with kids from the high school. I will say that the kids were all very polite and respectful of the time restraints. The ones I saw who had to be reminded by the librarian that their time was up responded nicely. I hope that is always the case. I know that public access computers can become a problem for librarians in some situations, unless they happen to have had previous careers as bouncers. |

I would just go there frequently if you have a library that is convenient for you in location so that you can get a feel of the traffic flow. Savannah Center's computer room can have high use times too. |
Re: Addiction to TOTV?
-forgot to say in the above post that the wireless access at the regional rec centers required resident ID's also. You cannot get in to the regional rec centers without one and you need the ID to log in to the wireless also.
(They were checking ID's carefully at the time. I think there had been crashers from a neighboring community who had invaded a water fitness class. That was the rumor anyway.) |

As I recall, it did have something to do with the golf number.
