Victorian homes never had a closet in the bedroom - so I guess they were bedroomless homes

How can they sell you a 3 BR home if a bedroom doesn't have a closet? I thought that was a requirement to call it a 3BR.

If it doesn’t have a closet, it’s an office or study or hobby room. However, lots of visitors live out of a suitcase and bring hardly any clothes. Often, a sturdy hook screwed into a stud is plenty for any hanging clothes and perhaps a folding suitcase stand.

Where are you going to put a closet when the bathroom is on other side of the wall and right wall is by front door?
Just have the closet companies here to build you one in the corner as a space saver with a shelf and short hanging bar like we do inside our closets! I have a gardenia and that’s a very small room so you don’t want to cut it smaller. An open closet built in corner is a nice add. I just kept mine a nice den with a loveseat and Big TV and small desk.

We are in a 3 bedroom Begonia and front bedroom is closetless.

...then it’s NOT a bedroom.

Actually state real estate regs say bedrooms must have closets.

What is a Bedroom as Defined by Florida Building Code?

but then again, if the TV marketing reps aren't licenses realtors, then they can call it whatever they want, as they have no code of ethics. . .

legal guy who stayed at a Holiday Inn last night

You are wrong. We are all licensed and I have top notch ethics. Please stop dispelling rumors about people who have studied and earn the privilege of selling homes through the state of Florida.
OP: usually the advertising says “ third bedroom without a closet”. Yours didn’t I understand.

It's not marketed as a 3 BR....it's marketed as 2BR, 1 den or (2-1-2)

Gardenia/Beginia

When we bought our Begonia in 2011, it was advertised as a 2/2/1. Meaning there were two bedrooms, two baths and a den. I thought that was how it was still listed today for both the gardenia and the begonia.

Depends. You can stretch the front or side of a gardenia and add the closet to make it a 3 bedroom. If bedroom or den 3 has a witches hat, then it is stretched.
So, gardenias, begonias, sunflowers can go either 2 or 3 bedrooms

Ours was marketed as a 3 bedroom. Even had villages real estate person picture on her offering.

We will still use it as a combo office/bedroom.

The Village Sun has a couple of pages of real estate and almost all houses are listed as 3 bedrooms when the agents know that it is not really true in most cases.

The literature that was put out by a properties of the Villages sales rep says the house is 3 bedroom and 2 bath. The reps picture is even on the literature.

The Begonia floor plan does say what we thought was the third bedroom is actually a den. Strangely enough the third bedroom (as we will continue to call it) is actually a drop bigger than the second bedroom (which does come with a closet).

Not going to do anything about it but wow were we misled.

It goes to show you that you can't believe everything the sales dept. tells you.
