Many do use pods to move things. Some end up buying new as the stuff they bring down isn’t the southern style. Big dark furniture from the north is overwhelming in Florida. We bought all new furniture when we came because we still have our house up north. We paid about $7000 for bedroom, den, living room and dining room. This was just before Covid so prices were still normal.

I used Liberty to move from Long Island. At that time, all boxes were free. It was much cheaper than a pod, and they packed and unpacked. If you use a pod and you go over the time by 1 day, you pay for the whole month. Also, remember you get an estimate for the move, not actual weight by the moving company. I had the truck weighed before my stuff was loaded and after my stuff was loaded, so I paid actual weight....saved about $600 from the estimate. The company will tell you where the weigh station is located and take the truck there and you can watch. Mine was about 20 min from my house....well worth it

I’ve used Patrick Wyatt with Here to There Moving several times. He’s a young guy with a great crew and very reliable. His dad is a realtor here in the villages. They travel to move people to the villages. Give him a call, I’m sure he can sort you out. Good luck with your move!

don't do it. I made same mistake. moving prices were bait and switch, they stole a lot of my things, were very late getting down to TV.

when we moved here about a year and a half ago we moved everything. I rent a 26' truck from Penske which I drove. But I hired a crew to load and unload at both ends. Very reasonable and both crew were great.

choose the furniture you want to move wisely and my suggest is "POD". you can pack it container as you see fit and the big advantage to me was they picked it up, stored it until I was into my home here.

Check to see if there is a local Moving company that makes weekly runs to FL. We used a local White Plains NY mover, they split the load between us and a couple of others.

I used JK Moving Company for both packing and moving when I came to The Villages last May. They are well-known in the Northeast. I had a lot of broken and missing items. The missing items were mostly tools. Sorry I hired them. Wish I had gotten a pod instead. Good luck with your move.

Take very few pieces if any - get a large pod and buy new down here - that is what we did and even the few we brought lasted about a year!

If they do a pod do not pay the high price they charge for storage - there is a storage unit place in Wildwood called A/C STORAGE - every unit is a/c and you can have pod delivered there and unload it yourself - we hired locals to do the unloading- good luck.

For PODs, do you pay by the POD size & distance or do they also add the weight?

You will probably pay more to move it than it is worth.

I agree, probably better to buy new

We used a pod and shipped it and then hired movers for the day after it was delivered to live it all in! Easy as could be!
