The dryer lint filter is not completely effective. I would suggest occasionally going outside and looking at the gooseneck outlet on your roof. If you see an accumulation of lint on it, you may need to have the duct cleaned out. Also, if your clothes are taking longer to dry.
According to the NFPA, about 17,000 house fires per year are caused by dryer vents.
