Why the cheap shots?

I’ve seen you mention Disney in other posts, so I’m wondering how you avoid sugar and eat healthy at the Disney parks? I’ve tried with no luck.

The Aldi availableity is great. Frozen vegetables are inexpensive and no " stuff" added to them. Fresh produce and other items are good. Grateful we have a few Aldi stores in area. Grateful we can still afford groceries.

We're aldi fans as well. Heard that there will be a July opening. Don't buy the unhealthy items. Be selective and you can use Aldi as an adjunct to your food shopping and save some $$$$.

According to Don Wiley who usually knows what’s going on, no Publix in Eastport or Middleton. Magnolia Plaza Publix will be crazy busy next sno bird season.

Where is TJ'S ? When you buy bakery items from grocery stores, the ingredients and nutrition are clearly listed on the package. Family owned bakeries -- you don't know what is in the product. There are no family owned bakeries here that I am aware of.

There's a lot of grocery store snobs here, but the Aldi's produce is the same quality as everybody else, but cheaper. Some of the vendor's on Saturday at Brownwood are Aldi secret shoppers.

Yep, avocados are avocados, potatoes are potatoes, celery is celery, etc. There's plenty of good stuff at Aldi's.

Fresh salmon is good, so is frozen, cooked shrimp, many cheeses and dips, ground coffee, crackers, etc.

And yes, unfortunately, one of the downsides to some farmers markets is that some of the produce is grocery store-bought and resold at the markets.

Interesting. He was just recently showing on his live show what very much looked like a supermarket plot, and by process of elimination he deduced it was Publix. This was 2-3 weeks ago though, and building hadn’t begun yet, so it definitely wouldn’t be open for the upcoming winter season. It would make no sense if they never added a large supermarket down there.

Agree. Here in the northern part there are numerous Publix. On 441, there is a Publix in neighboring strip stores. Although I have never clocked the mileage, these two Publix must be about one mile from each other.

There are two family owned bakeries within 30-40 from TV. One does good cookies, breads and some specialty items. We shop TJ’s in Gainesville every 4-6 weeks, Orlando is closer, when we are returning from Disney every 3 weeks.
TJ’s bread will not keep for long for lack of additives and preservatives.

My guess is you have never frequented a family owned bakery, to realize all products such as breads, rolls, cookies, cakes, and gluten free donuts are labeled just as in any grocery. Reason it provides those with food allergies, even though they are non chain, certain product ingredients are mandatory, or the need to keep their customers safe. Our bakeries have label their ingredients over 15 years. However the list is very short, additives and preservatives are not used. All dairy gluten free items are made first to ensure no cross contamination.

We have been using the same bakery since 1960. It’s nice to have the owner know all 4 generations, by first name, and make a special item just for you.

Our granddaughter who is severely lactose intolerant, brought donuts and bread for her visit to us last week. Owner made a new donut for me, double packed separately labeled with ingredients sticker.
He said “hug your grandparents for me”, and when you return I will perfected gluten/dairy free special donut just for you

Went to Aldi's today. I will have to get used to how they do things there. This was the one in Sumter Landing. Had to get a reminder that you need a quarter to get a grocery cart but a few of them had the quarter still in them .


And thanks to the nice person who bought me a Coca-Cola. She seemed to know who I was but I did not want to bring up stuff in a setting like a grocery store. I am assuming she is familiar with Talk of the Villages. I had put it on the conveyor belt on my side with a divider but somehow the cashier put it on the bill of the lady behind me.
