Thank you for posting that link. A real bright spot in this thread. I'm looking forward to exploring the new Aldi.

If you have traveled in Europe, you know this store. It is everywhere there, as well as Lytle's. it is a German owned company and has wonderful food from Germany. Try it. Only a few products, but they are worth the effort. Much cheaper than flying to Nuremberg for their brats. Can't wait to have those brats again. An Oktoberfest treat.

We very rarely eat out, three times a week we are meatless. Due to heart issues we only eat 3 ounces of meat or fish at a meal. Oats for breakfast, or an egg. I can get most of our vegetables from my container garden, or donated by multi friends garden. What we don't use I freeze it in individual packets . I grow tomatoes, zucchini, squash, potatoes, cucumbers, beans, lettuce, kale, most of my herbs. For under $10 of seeds you can feed multitudes of people, and you know what's in your food. Since protein is the most expensive grocery item we do consume less than most.

Aldi's and Trader Joe's are owned by the same company, Aldi has great prices on everyday items.

I love some of you shopping and being so healthy and I also love to hear about people shopping to save money or for the "thrill of the hunt".

I go to Aldi's for a lot of reasons but one is that they sometimes have highly unusual and yummy cookies.

I should be so ashamed.

We were hoping for one to be built on 44. This is even better! Thank you, Aldi!
Like Dean said, "it's not really all that great!! You all keep shopping at Publix!!"
We don't have any this Aldi to get too crowded!!

Question:

Has anyone purchased electronics from them? This week they have a 21" flat screen TV for $150 which would be perfect for my kitchen, but I am hesitant because I have never bought anything other than groceries.

I have bought both appliances and electronics. Never had a problem.

Last week the Aldi's on 441 had a l.lb pack of black tiger shrimp for $11.98 (I think), Fresh Market had their biggest shrimp on sale for $19.99 per lb. Aldi's also had frozen Maine Lobster Tails 2 for $11+. I bought the tiger shrimp and they were outstanding, huge shrimp, sauteed them for three minutes a side, rice and asparagus and had a great and very fancy meal.

Their German chocolate bars (especially the milk chocolate with nuts and raisins), imported French frozen desserts (I have two chocolate volcanoes in the freezer right now) and German cookies really cannot be beat either for price or just being absolutely delicious.

We, too, got used to shopping Aldi's and Liddles in Europe. Great prices and products.
