i'm one of those wondering why it had to be killed. it's probably worth more to chase off the coyote & let the gator find its way back to wherever it was going. knowing that, i probably wont ever call a trapper unless the gator in inside the house, going thru the fridge.

Poor Gator, trying to protest itself and gets killed off. Hmm.... gators were here first.. Next thing.. shooting the Sandhill Cranes because they are in the road.. oh I forgot, folk can kill them with cars and carts easier...... SLOW DOWN everyone we are lucky to have wildlife......it has been reduced by over 50% in 10 years, and the weather is not totally to blame.

Can you imagine opening up your front door and seeing that sitting on your porch? Yikes. I can see why the gator was removed but I also don't understand why it had to be destroyed. That's sad.

This also reaffirms my inclination to buy a CYV. I'm not seeing a gator scaling a concrete wall to get to my pups.

Alogator Lives Matter!

When they get a certain length and become to cozy around people unfortunately they are caught and euthanized.

what happened with the coyote

Velvet 07-02-2020 02:16 PM

It sounded like the gator was injured perhaps that’s why it was euthanized.

Scott & Dana Barrish were awoken by a loud bang at the front door at 2am at Perry Villas, located between Eisenhower Rec Center and Shooters World. The motion sensor light had come on, and they looked out and saw this 6' gator.

The alligator appeared to have been in a standoff with a coyote and the alligator retreated to the front door area of the villa, Barrish said. Sumter County sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene and coordinated with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission which summoned a trapper to the home.

The trapper arrived on the scene within an hour and used a bang stick to apprehend the alligator, which appeared to be missing part of the tail. The alligator was euthanized.

I’m sick and tired of hearing , “well they were here first “ !!

The American Indians were here first too and we all know how that turned out !!

Perhaps we should all leave , have the neighborhoods bull dozed so that the wildlife can have their habitats returned to them !!

( eyes rolling)
