Default Alternative to dining area

Hello,

We are closing on our designer home this coming Wednesday and will begin the process of buying furniture gradually, as we sold most of our furniture "up north" to find a new style. Originally we wanted to buy an Aspen, because we did not want to have a dining room table. But we ended up with an Iris with the long living/dining area, because we fell in love with the lot and lanai. Now we have to figure out what else we can do with the dining room spot. Has anyone done this? If anyone has pictures to post, they would really be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
Amy

Default This was suppose to be a formal dining area:

The Villages Florida

This is our current dining area and it suits our lifestyle because we are NOT formal entertainers.

Default Alternative to dining area..

We bought a corner fireplace and have made that area a quiet reading spot... when we have mega company, we simply slide the loveseat into the open living area..
We have a Whispering Pine which has a large, eat-in kitchen. We can seat 6 comfortably there... why have two places to eat when 95% of the time we are alone or with just another couple.
Hope you have fun with the configuration....

Here is a post that had LOTS of ideas. If you add a comment to this posting it will bump it up to current and perhaps we can get even more ideas. We closed on our Ohio home last night and are moving into our Whispering Pine in January. We are still looking for ideas too.

Default Sitting room

We turned ours into a lovely sitting area complete with electric fireplace. We have an area rug, a love seat and two chairs with side tables. I will try to post pics later but since I switched to Icloud I can't post pics any longer. We just love the space and it is warm and cozy for reading or just relaxing.
