I think 66 is about the "average" age.
Age here is JUST a number! I see many older people then me running circles around me! I am now eating healthy and getting in shape so I can keep up with everyone. |
Goodness, you are far from being too old! My husband's mother moved here when she was 83 and is still here and quite happy with TV. She's in our ladies golf group...ladies' ages vary....60's 70's, and 90's.
Enjoy your winter visit....look around at what homes are available, swim, play some golf, tennis or pickleball, walk, attend club meetings to see if they are of interest, visit the surrounding communities, take in some movies, visit the town squares, the Farmers' Markets, get tickets for a show at the Savanah Center....and so on and so on....and talk to people, ask questions. Villagers love where they live...they'll share the positives, maybe some negatives they've experienced and you'll make a new friend...;) |
The Villages is a retirement area .... why would anyone think 66 is to old???
|
Heck, we are both 65 and just built our home closing last February. On our cul-de-sac there are 21 homes. We are just about in the middle age wise. Several couples are a decade or two older. But even more active than us.
AGE IS A NUMBER!! State of mind is what matters! All our neighbors have one thing in common. We all came to get the most out of the present! Living here is like living in a resort! Come and enjoy!!! |
NO. You are assuredly not too old to live here. Come on down. You just won't believe how happy you will be to be here.

We just moved in Aug 7th. I am 71 the wife is well I can't say. LOL Never too old.
|
We moved here at 69 and love every moment. I rarely agree with Rubicon but he gave you excellent advice. You are never too old to love living here but at our age circumstances can change quickly. If you have the financial backup to make another move if some unexpected health issue comes up...go for it; otherwise you may need to do some more thinking. I am always an optimist but reality often interrupts me.

am I too old
NO......thats all i can say
|
I think it is more a matter of one's state of physical and mental health rather than age alone. If one is able to drive a golf cart, require only the locally available level of health care and is financially capable of residing either part time or full time in The Villages, one can give it a go.
After all isn't 100 the new 80? |
Too Old?
I moved here when I was 67 - 2 years ago and I have loved every minute of it. I feel younger now than I did when I was 57! It's a great life - come on down and enjoy it.:MOJE_whot:

Moved here when I was 60 and husband 64, that was 4 years ago. I'm one of the babies in the neighborhood and am always kidded about it. Definitely a state of mind, age is just a number. People here that are 100 are still enjoying themselves. This place keeps you young.
