Default amenity fees

Our amenity fee went from $130 to $142.81-a little over 9%. Is this in line with the cost of living index which I believe determines the increase in fees?

Cathy, Yes, it is.

Some properties on the historic side of CR441/27 have a fixed rate that remains constant for the original owner of the property. For the rest of us, the fee is adjusted annually.

My fee last month was still $130, which was paid on August 8. When did you get notice that your rate had gone up?

So when does the SS cost of living go up 9%? :joke: At least if it goes to costly when I am, I can cut out the amenities: the library and the "Y"! TV is getting to expensive for consideration. I see a lot of increase in costs just like here in Indiana. The property taxes look about the same, very high.

We started out paying $119.00 in January 2005, we were increased on January 2006 to $123.16, with our last increase January 2007 to $125.62. What I don't understand is why there are different fees and why everyone isn't paying the same? Can someone explain how this fee is calculated? Thanks in advance.

: I just got my bill for amenity fee and it went from $130 to $133..its only $3 but I was very surprised as I thought this fee was never supposed to change. This is news to me and so I checked out the subject matter on TOTV found this to be what happens yearly. Not happy about this.
Makes me wonder what other surprises I'm in for.

We started with $125 in July last year and it was increased in Nov to 127.86. My bill says that it will increase again in Nov but doesn't say how much. I believe it increases each year on the house's birthday. I absolutely love TV and can't wait until we are full timers. I do worry about the increases here and there and hidden costs (free Exec golf except it costs $3.50 trail fee, etc.) I also heard that the web access to request tee times is $60 a year. $3.50 is nothing but what other things are there? We just don't want to be priced out of TV when we are on fixed incomes.

After you have been here three years it goes up by the CPI on the day you signed the contract. It is in your Deed Restrictions of all places.

Doing the math:

60,000 people/1.75 per household = 34,000 households

34,000 households x 140/mo x 12 months = $57 Mil per year buys a bunch of ping pong balls

Good information to know! It belongs on my "things I wouldn't like list". Whatever happened to the idea of affordable retirement locations? Prices on everything have been on the BIG increase everywhere, even moreso since the first of this year. I knew there was some good reason I didn't like the "restrictions".. Maybe a regular (non-retirement) community makes more sense.

Mine went up on the first anniversary of our purchase and goes up 2 - 3% each year, however I must say it is the best $126/month I've ever spent.

Moved in in August 2005 at $119; 2006 went to $123; 2007 went to $127. Goes up every year. When we closed we were told it would stay at $119 and that adjustments would take place for newly purchased homes but we were "grandfathered" at the rate it was when they closed.

So much for fulll disclosure!!! :edit:

I was thinking about TV when fully built:
50,000 homeas at $120 = $6 million per month. And that's low apparently. That's one management company that will never leave, especially with the cost of living built into their income!
