District 10 commissioners could offer no help for the lady asking how to keep dog owners from letting dogs poop and pee in her yard. The Dunedin lady said her husband has cancer and is taking Chemo and in fragile health. She went on to say it was a health issue for them. The best the CDD chairman could offer was “I feel for you, it is a problem all over The Villages”. She said it wasn’t a problem until she had to take down her small white dog ornament. Are some dog owners that entitled and insensitive to their neighbors? Sad...

Yes, some are.

Sorry, but allowing your dog to dump on my yard is a problem, no matter what.

Can anyone say Villager entitlement. L.o.l

There was a discussion recently on a podcast regarding dog walkers who pick up waste and then toss it in "the nearest garbage can," usually on someone else's property.

Most listeners fairly vehemently disagreed with the host that it was a perfectly fine thing to do (although a lot would allow dumpsters or public trash cans). Meanwhile, I was yukking it up in my head imagining what folks here would have to say about it! Fortunately our bagged garbage is except from that particular annoyance, but I'd seriously have to buy some Orville Redenbacher stock if TV ever switches to cans.

Spray Lawn

Is there anything you can spray on your lawn to cause the Dog's not to come on the lawn. The people who allow this are terrible and inconsiderate. It is a true health issue. Why can't and why doesn't the Villages make this apart of Deed Restrictions and enforce it since it truly is a health hazard. Or, just allow signs on this on the lawn's? It would seem to me that if a person can be harmed by this because of a health condition it should fall under the ADA and charges and fines can be brought against the Organizations or Communities who don't enforce the law. :ohdear:

Coarse black pepper, the fresher the pepper the stronger the smell, it will keep doggie noses away as they can smell it from far away. Dogs “...they possess up to 300 million olfactory receptors in their noses, compared to about six million in us. And the part of a dog's brain that is devoted to analyzing smells is, proportionally speaking, 40 times greater than ours.” Google

I use it for my flower bed. Need to reapply after rain.

I do consider it amazing that anyone would consider someone else’s property as the litter box for their dog?

Pepper Application would be daily this summer.

And yes I have found dog poop in my yard. I get a plastic bag and pick it up throw it in the trash and never give it a second thought. Too busy having fun to let minor sh*t destroy my day.

Until it puts you in the hospital, right?

Be thankful that you have no Canadian geese in your yard. We have lived on water or golf courses most of our lives and always had those running around, they are nasty and filthy. We live on water here also but no geese so far, lots of other birds and ducks but they stay on the shoreline along with our resident alligator.

There were Canadian Geese on the Truman golf course a few weeks ago.

We were in Canada years ago and on some tour or other. The guide a young cute lady informed us that they call them American Geese.

At one time, I used to photograph weddings. I always tried, but never succeeded in talking brides out of a trip to the park. Green goose poop on a white dress?

There are several common birds that don't seem to exist here. Pigeons, we used to call them flying rats. I assume the hawks call them lunch.

I see some humor in this...the villages is ok with dog crap all over the place but not little white signs. perhaps dog crap should be designated a "lawn ornament".
