There have been studies done (I saw one on 20/20 a few years ago) that show that people actually drive FASTER in fog. That is assuming they are not actively looking at their speedometers. It had something to do with the fog tricking the mind into thinking they were going slower than they actually were. The average speed was 7.5 miles an hour over what they thought.
