I heard that the cost of options is not clearly stated on a punch list they package all together and give a price.

So only if you delete an option you'll know the cost.

I never heard of this way of doing add ons, can someone explain.

Also can you tell us what you may have chosen and what it cost (if you know) or what were your worst/best options.

CYV's have no options. You buy from the available inventory. You can go to TV website and see what is available New Homes and Villas for Sale That's actually how we bought our CYV, we chose it from the internet while we were still in Baltimore and called our salesman and gave him a credit card number for a down payment of $2500 to hold it for ten days.

John, When you bought your CYV without being in TV, did your sales rep give you any info? In other words, I'm hoping to do the same, but I want to know about the kitchen flooring. Do the rep's take pictures for a potential buyer? I plan on calling to ask this, but thought maybe you'd have some pointers for me, since I'm doing it long distance as well.

Yes, first off there were four available units of the model we wanted, a 'Woodlawn', now called a 'Durham'. I asked Tony if any had white cabinets, which none did, that was our first choice. Then I focused on the differences of the four and it came down to price. Tony and his wife took their golf cart over to the home that night and snapped some photos and he emailed them to me about 9pm on the same night. I had already given him the credit card because this unit was $6,000 cheaper than the other three. We then transferred about $15,000 ten days later and closed here on July 5th.

We had come down on a LSV during April 21-27 last year. We listed our home for sale about three weeks later in May and sold it in one day. We had already seen all the CYV, patio villa and cottage models during our visit and the villa section in question we had driven through. 'Amberjack' villa section in Buttonwood was where we had looked mostly, but they were all sold so we ended up in 'Southern Star' villas about a 1/4 further south on St. Charles in the Village of Tamarind Grove. We had driven through Southern Star and actually there were no other CYV section open at the time. We had really been planning on getting a Cabot Cove patio villa but the price on this one was too good to turn down and we really wanted a privacy fence and the masonry construction.

I will chime in on what I know though I was there when I bought our villa. You cannot switch anything. Everything is predetermined. We were one of the first to buy on our street. I asked if we could switch out appliances, no. But here is a tip! If you do not like the appliances, DO NOT USE THEM and call the place they came from and they will switch them out and you can upgrade as well. I upgraded so I do not know that they will do an even switch but you can change them out. The floor and carpets are all predetermined as are the cupoards. In a villa there is no choices. So once you buy, factor in $$$$$$$ to do whatever changes you desire. That is what we did. Finding the right spot is critical and then take it from there! Examples of what to $$$ for are granite, wood floors or whatever you like, birdcage, closing in a lanai, texturing the back patio, finishing the garage floor, coating the driveway, painting the front walkway, wood trims and mouldings around windows, back yard lights, lights in the bedroom (seriously we had none), painting the inside. As everyone says bring a checkbook. And then another one.

We were considering the Cabot Patio Villa like the house & layout but not being able to select anything didn't feel right.

Now we're focusing on a SandDollar and like the fact that the lot is a bit larger and we can select some options.

I just wanted an idea what others were quoted on any options.

Jane, when you mention the inside painting....does it only have primer on the walls? Or, are they painted white and you wanted different wall color?

Our CYV was painted inside with white paint, walls and ceiling. One day after we moved in we had 'Investment Painters' paint our walls a light blue to give it a tropical look. They are an advertiser on this site. After doing a search of painters on this site I had read several good reviews about them, they did a great job. They sent in 4 painters and finished the entire inside in 8 hours.

TV paints the entire inside walls and ceiling either a white or a light tan on the CYV's. I'm glad we had the white since the tan ceiling would of also required repainting. Three of our neighbor's CYV's that we've been inside have the all tan treatment and it seems to dull the appearance. I guess they do the ceiling to avoid masking and to be able to spray everything and not worry about over spray. That's one item the salesman did not mention about our unit before we arrived. When we looked at the models a couple of months earlier they were all white inside, so that question never came up in my mind.

Ours was painted all white, there was nothing wrong with it, I just preferred color. But seriously no lights in the Master or second bedroom, weird.

True. The easy workaround is to add a light to the ceiling fan.
