Default All squares will be turned into apartments and all businesses are shutting down.

Get your attention? There was a previous thread that said "heard both bowling alleys were shutting down and being sold." So the OWNER of both businesses posted a statement below. People - Do you realize the damage you do to businesses when you speculate and assume what will happen???

"You need to get your facts before you make a statement. We have been successful in the two bowling centers since 2006 when we purchased the businesses from The Villages. We have been in the bowling and restaurant business for over 50 years and are always amazed at how rumors are started and are repeated to the the point that people believe are true. Village Bowling ( the corporate name) which owns Spanish Springs Lanes, McCalls Tavern, Fiesta Bowl and The Pub at the Bowl is a healthy company has NO intentions of selling. We have come through the Covid-19 crisis and with are dedicated employees are already seeing the recovery of our businesses. To all of our customers and employees, let us say thank you for your past business and service and let us insure you we are here to stay.

The rumor mill is going to get the better of all of us. I'm so glad you posted this.

I guess it’s like the news, phony n boring! I remember when a hurricane weather reporter was all in a huff and acting like the storm was going to blow him away. That’s when two elderly woman were nonchalantly passing by on a morning walk on the beach. Lol or reporter claiming he and a famous politician were being shot at in Iraq, So horrendous! Many stories just 100 percent wrong. Remember, believe half what you see and nothing you hear!

Did you see the one where the weather guesser was floating in a canoe and two people walked behind her in not much more than ankle deep water?

Great post with the facts. Way too much drama out there on so many levels.

I too read the first rumor post, and thought that this was not likely true. But a statement from the owner is nice to hear.

Agree, but it's a shame a business owner has to come on here to dispute a stupid, useless, made-up lie by one of the few negative, entitled residents who happen to create this drama just to entertain themselves.

Negative trolls, please just go away and leave the other 99.9% who are happy to carry on.

They seem to do that regularly as a way to get people to watch the news.

I 100% agree!!! Yet people on this site continue to make statements that are baseless!
Here are a few. Pure speculation:
1. All country club restaurants will be turned into apartments
2. The squares will be shut down and turned into apartments
3. If we allow apartments in the 2nd story of squares people will complain and square entertainment will be shut down.
4. Demshar's is closing and being turned into apartments.
5. Rialto theater is taking too long. They are turning that into apartments.
6. They are converting Hacienda championship golf course into apartments.
7. Be careful. They can convert all championship golf courses into apartments.
8. The Developer is going to sell The Villages to ....

I'm sure I miss a bunch...
