Maybe the guy was just exercising his constitutional right to open carry. He just accidentally said give me your money or I'll shoot. We could be in for a tough slog as more and more undesirables exercise their constitutional rights.

Speaking of which about two weeks ago the Daily Sun reported 4 residents of The villages arrested for using/selling marijuana. Probably the same guys who were pushing heavy support for legalization on the previous TOTV thread

What the???? Are you serious? What does this robbery have to do with Marijuana?

Shouldn't all Villages employees be required to pack heat?

Exactly!!! When it happens here it is a big news story. Five clubs get robbed in Detroit and it's called another Saturday night.

We are a community of over 100,000 people. To think that there is no crime here at all is naive. On the other hand, we have one of the lowest crime rates in the world for a community of this size.

We have people here on both extremes. I have a neighbor that has scared my poor wife to death with stories of how she needs to be very careful because of all the rapes that go on here. Then I have a friend who carries a loaded gun because of all the dope smoking teens that hang around in the parks and mug passersby.

On the other hand I hear people say that we are in a bubble and we can leave our doors unlocked and keys in the car.

Get a clue everyone. The truth is somewhere in between those two. But, IMHO it is much closer to the leave your doors open and keys in the car fairytale then the other extreme. It is one of the safest communities in the world.

Thank you for that. I needed to hear something positive...

Don't initiate a shooting.

Kitty has it right. Civilians who are lawfully carrying a concealed weapon, and who are present during an armed robbery in a public place, should not draw their firearms and intervene as long as the armed robbers do not start shooting.

Police officers in civilian clothing in such a circumstance also do not intervene inside the establishment, but follow the criminals outside and then take appropriate action. Even police officers sometimes chose to take no action because of the potential for danger to bystanders if a gunfight breaks out. They choose, rather, to be the best possible eyewitness for the future investigation.

Absent an "active shooter" situation, keep those concealed firearms holstered.

I hear ya.

We had gone a good spell without breakins or burglaries or any kind of nasty bad guys stealing things here in TV. The combined law enforcement had apparently caught and somehow deterred the bunch of bad people who had previously swarmed on us a few months back.

No one likes to hear this.

I hope it is solved quickly. We have great law enforcement here and all three counties and the town of Lady Lake work hand in glove.

Those guys are trained to NOT use their gun unless threaten with their or their loveones life. Having a concealed weapon permit does not make one a policeman. I wouldn't want to go thru years of trials ands liberal media bashing because I stepped in and helped. I'm not a policeman.

All the bad stuff that happens elsewhere, also happens in The Friendliest Home Town!

It just didn't seem like a very caring remark after someone got robbed !!! :ohdear:

Having a gate will not keep intruders out anymore than a no trespassing sign. How about all those golf courses that someone could go thru bypassing gates?
