I would have asked 911 to have the ambulance to try and intercept you on the trip.

I am very glad she is alright. You were frustrated and frightened and it didn't go the way you hoped it would.

This has to be one of the most whacked out responses I’ve seen. I don’t even know where to start. Have the ambulance try and intercept you enroute? Seriously?

What started as a quick drive to get my sister who was helping me in the yard in our home in Monarch Grove a ride to ER at Brownwood. She developed hives on her and was itching, which has happened before. So we jumped in the car and headed that way, suddenly her airway was getting compromised, just before the water Lilly bridge area, so things were getting urgent, I knew I was only a little over a mile or so from the ER We decided to continue on versus calling 911 we came up on two cars on in each lane and I drove up behind the Lexus in the left and started frantically honking my horn and waving my arms to move, I honked several times to no avail not only did he not move forward he slowed down and held me so I could not get by. We followed him honking and waving frantically neither car would move just kept riding side-by-side as if to try to tell me to slow down like it was their job, Instead of wondering gee, why are they so frantic honking and waving!! I was finally able to get by them at the last traffic circle and rushed to the ER by the time we arrive my sister was having great difficulty breathing and they took her back immediately. My point is not everyone who is in a hurry is just being an inpatient jerk, Sometimes there is true emergencies and at that point we were doing what anybody would do for their own family I hope you are proud of yourself for acting like an arrogant idiot because you not only kept us from passing, but you turned looked right at me as we tried to go by like it was your job to hold me back… thankfully we arrived just in the nick of time, but if it had been a longer ride things may have been different think twice about it before you believe you are the road police. And no I don’t need any lectures on driving her because I am a nurse of 30 years and at the point we left the house she was not having breathing issues we just we’re heading that way quickly but things changed.

Possible solution: Honk SOS … - - - … Maybe that would have worked. Probably not but maybe. Road police are always jerks.

While it may be common to do so these days, it doesn't make it right. What happened to common courtesy?

banjobob 06-23-2021 05:37 AM

An issue on occasion brain dead drivers driving side by side down two lane road. , courtesy is to speed up and pass or slow down and follow get out of the left lane you idiot.

Florida law does say that it is illegal to break the speed limit even to pass.

We have been around this tree OVER AND OVER.

And yes, let's condone/promote road rage and assulating someone with a deadly weapon - an automobile.

If You are in the left lane and doing the speed limit and someone's on your butt then you are the slower traffic. That's very clear: SLOWER traffic. You are not speed enforcement you are not top dog You are now impeding traffic. Speed limit is irrelevant and you don't get to decide.

Move your butt over.

Florida law.doesnt say that old people get to do want they want or any number of things. Common sense is to prevail. Well it shouldn't have to spell out every little implication. And I cannot believe that's how you interpret it that just because you do the speed limit you're justified and extended stay in the left lane hotel.

I drove an ambulance for 10 years. Occasionally ambulances will meet the patient enroute; many factors dictate this need.

I’m very well aware of that. The OP was driving from Monarch Grove to Brownwood, on Meggison. In the time it took to place the call, have the dispatcher ask all the questions following their protocol, dispatch an ambulance, etc, it’s a safe bet the OP would’ve long since arrived at the ER.

We’re not talking about being in a rural area where an ER is 45 minutes away.

Should have got the old goat’s License number and reported his old ass.

tklloop 06-23-2021 06:17 AM

You just stated all the reasons why you should always call EMS. Let them determine if it’s an emergency. You possibly placed yourself, your sister, and other drivers at risk. Your intentions were correct but your decision making was flawed.

butlerism 06-23-2021 06:23 AM

That was you.
I was honking and waving back at You!!

Use emergency blinkers and maybe not definitely the road police will move over
