Default Assisted living in The Villages

I heard that Sumter Senior Living (formerly Sumter Grand) is the only assisted living facility owned by the Villages. Which means you remain a Villager and keep your ID, golf cart etc. Apparently this is not so with Watercrest (Elan) and the other assisted living facilities here. Is this true?

Not true. There are several assisted living facilities that offer full Villages amenities. The facility does not need to be owned by The Villages.

Two examples are Buffalo Crossings and Freedom Pointe.

Thank you. I asked because I know of a lady who turned down Watercress because they are not part of the Villages.

Apparently, the Watercrest (Elan) Buena Vista facility on Rt 466 has both independent and assisted living. All of the independent living residents have access to The Villages amenities. But, at the assisted living facility, access to the amenities is optional for some residents.
