My slogan on cars when in my golf cart is "might makes right". I've got a lot more to lose than they do.

The path intersection at Buena Vista and Old Mill Run is like a video game to cross (think Frogger). Sometimes vehicles will stop to wave golf carts through without checking for oncoming vehicles. So still be diligent when a good Samaritan is a traffic director. I have seen many close calls there.

Instead of wondering about me and my understanding of traffic rules, I would appreciate it if you could address my question.

I just looked at that intersection on Google Maps and it does look dangerous, especially because there is no median to give the cart drivers a breather. There does not even appear to be a way for a cart rider going north on Buena Vista to avoid that intersection.

Do you think that intersection should be a 4-way stop?

It is dangerous, no doubt. A four way stop won't work because of the proximity to the roundabout at Buena Vista. The solution would be an underpass like the one at Stillwater Trail and the a Buena Vista path.

Listen everybody, VA is right.
Yes, most of us had concerns over the type of house, the neighborhood, the lot, amenities, location of shopping etc. and there hasn't been much concern posted on TOTV about making left turns on essentially residential streets, but if that is his concern, please respect it and address it appropriately.
My concerns were golf, other activities, and lot placement---but I didn't discover TOTV and join until more than a year after I bought. I'm not sure how I would have reacted to negative comments about my concerns. After all, one of the main benefits of this site is imparting information to new and prospective Villagers (that, and of course joking with little rofl emojis (sorry PB) and extorting lobster on bets (sorry BF):1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:). So let's give VA the benefit of our experience without editorializing

I already have. Sorry you took unnecessary offense. I find that if I can sometimes understand the background behind a person's question I can provide a more specific or appropriate response.

Certainly the people driving cars are way more important than people driving golf carts, and should never be subject to unnecessary delays even ones lasting perhaps seven seconds. They have important things to do after all. Places to go, people to see. While drivers of golf carts, on the other hand, are mostly just fooling around, wasting time, having fun and so forth. So if you're in your car and see a long line of 8 to 10 golf carts waiting to cross at an exit gate, don't let it be of concern. Just blast on through....You have the right of way. And if some fool ever stops to let a golf cart thru, just lay on your horn until he moves. You'll feel a whole lot better. That's how it's done in The Villages!

The good news is that we only have about 6 more weeks until the seasonal folks head back and the residents can get back to normal. This is a golf cart community and the gates are there to provide flow control between golf carts and cars. There is a stop sign, the gate, and one for the carts which makes it a 4 way stop. In addition, where the carts cross is an intersection and blocking an intersection inhibiting traffic isn't legal. There is also a stop for the carts halfway across the intersection where the cart has a clear view of both gates entering. While there are those that like to race the gates the necessary safeguards are there even though patience and common sense are frequently missing.....from both the cars and the carts.
