Believe it or not, the world doesn't have to stop turning while you tee off. If you believe so, you too, should be prohibited from playing golf. You are a danger to others.

This scenario has happened to many of us. We adjust. Why? Because WE SEE we may injure someone. We NEVER tell workers to stop working nor do we whine and complain when finished. Why? BECAUSE IT IS A GAME and we realize sometimes it may need to be adjusted. Rule number one if ANY GAME is to play safe.

Don't believe it? Good luck convincing a judge and jury. If you injure or kill another while playing a round of golf, I am certain they will make you pay for your actions.

:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

We see workers on the course all the time. They also see us. They stop what they're doing for the few seconds it takes to take our shots and life goes on...

Being on a golf course (either playing or working) carries an "assumption of risk"...

Your fantasy that you'll "pay for your actions" is just plain silly...

I have read about people punching each other during golf. The result? Had to pay for their actions in a court of law. I have seen long and intense arguing, people throwing clubs down the fairway, balls thrown in anger, and more! If you can't keep control of your emotions while playing a silly game, you should be banned. Anyone can see you are a danger and in the worst of scenarios, someone may get killed. So what? A few workers got in your way during a round of golf. Get over it!

Last time I checked, "punching someone" was not part of the game... And it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the actual discussion...

But sure, bring ridiculous fantasy scenarios into the argument... It's a sure sign you've lost the debate...

I was not the FIRST on this thread to bring up life threatening possibilities that could happen when adults act like children and whine when they do not get their way. I agreed with a post and added a REAL NEWS STORY of two who acted like children on the golf course and had to go to court. Unnecessary injuries have happened on the golf courses that were caused by a few who took their game far too seriously. It is a game. Win, lose, or draw, you should ALWAYS keep control of your emotions and make adjustments when necessary.

The world stops for you EVERYTIME you tee off? I think you just explained why the golf courses are in bad shape. Too many golfers expecting the workers to stop what they are doing so they can play their game. Even pros in various sports stop a game if there is a sign of danger. Those who cannot should be banned from playing.

I am proud that I play with groups who believe someone's life is more important than the game. They NEVER ask anyone to stop their work or expect a worker to keep track of what adults are doing around them. They do not believe a worker should patiently stop and wait each time someone needs to hit a golf ball. Reporting them for trying to complete their work is ridiculous. It is so much easier for the golfers to avoid the work area and adjust their game. Everyone remains safe and the needed work gets completed.

I’m just waiting for one of the many analyst nerds here to crunch the numbers on their search engines....to support your many posts regarding injuries, civil/criminal lawsuits, murder convictions. I’m just a realist, I think in this country, more likely wildlife would suffer that fate on a course than a human being. I’ve seen more injuries and victims of golf cart ‘accidents’ than golf ball strikes. It just doesn’t rise to the level of hysteria your recent posts have displayed. All due respect

All due respect, I was not the FIRST on this thread to bring up death and injury.

Don't believe my REAL NEWS story? Google the words man punches a senior on the golf course in the Villages. I do not feel the need to upload it. I know I am telling the truth. A few seniors in our community could not control their sense of entitlement.Enraged, they have killed or injured others. It happens!

When I read the OP, I thought it was childish and written by someone who obviously takes the game TOO SERIOUSLY. Pointing out and giving a REAL EXAMPLE of what could happen when one is in that mental state IS NOT ridiculous. Hopefully, the OP and his group realize golf is just a game. Things happen and you move on. Hope for a better game next time. And, always play safe.

If you divide the number of rounds of golf played....just on Villages courses in a calendar year....by the amount of physical altercations during said rounds, it would be an anemic number. At points throughout this threads existence you would think we were talking about Times Square at 2am. I, like you, play the game as intended and respect all who play and work around me. The rest of the nonsense described by others is the responsibility of course management to enforce and mitigate

If you do not hit them on your shot can you take a mulligan?

Yes, the minute or three it takes to tee off really puts a damper in the maintenance of the courses...

There are workers ALL OVER the courses. Should we "skip a shot" every time we see one? That's just plain silly.

The workers know we're there, they pull to the side, turn of their engines for a sec, give us a wave and carry on with their day...

Who ever suggested "reporting the workers"? Certainly not me! Just another red herring to support your ridiculous argument...

In your fantasy scenario, we'd be forgoing tee shots, 2nd shots, chips to the green, etc, etc, etc...

But I'm sure you just pick up your ball and soldier on...

Do you use those REALLY long tees when you tee of from your pedestal of virtue?

And once again, I NEVER mentioned idiots fighting on the course. YOU are the one who keeps bringing up that foolishness...

Grasp at straws much?

"All due respect"... LOL!

Reminds me of a bit by comedian Dom Irrera "I don't mean that in a bad way", and "With all due respect"...

I would love to play in a foursome with you two! My lawyer will be the fourth!

I have learned some take golf FAR TOO SERIOUSLY. Your lawyer would have a field day amid some of them. Me? I'll continue to take skip shots when I feel someone may be in danger. It's just a game and my score means nothing.

I have learned that some people virtue signal at every chance they get...

I'll continue to play the game the way it was intended to be played...

I don't like Mulligan. Can I take O'Malley instead?

When we cautioned them that we were about to Tee Off, they ignored us and continued their work. We all hit our tee shots to avoid errant shots and no harm was done.

(And yes I reported this - as I am sure others have in the past but it obviously continues with some workers. I would think that employers should train, require protective equipment, and monitor conformance with safety protocol)

While this may not be common, it does occur. If we ignore their lack of safety and accidently harm someone, I am sure we could/would be held liable. A simple etiquette yell of "fore" would hardly be a defense.

"Fore"? And all these years I've been shouting "Four"!
