you may not be changing the water filter in your refrigerator often enough

as soon as you sense that 'odd taste' empty out the ice bucket and replace the filter

we have a whole house filtration system, so we put the plug back in the refrigerator filter slot

They can pick up odors from the rest of the items in the freezer. I too have a whole house water filter which has allowed me to actually have ice cubes as the water here has a smell and taste. Access Denied

OP, does the water from the spigots ever taste bad? if so, you may need to install a whole house filter and possibly a water softener. If it is only the ice cubes that taste bad I am not sure of the cause, but I would change the filter first, and if that does not help, call the manufacturer and see if there is a way to clean and disinfect the water system of the refrigerator/freezer.

I would buy some plastic ice cube trays and fill them with bottled water, tap water, and refrigerator water to see what is causing the problem.

NOVA water filters are a good start. Food smells from the frig can also drift to the ice.

I had that happen. I just use the old fashioned ice cube trays. I like the ice much better that way anyway.

Most likely the ice water filter needs changed, they only last about 6 months depending on how much use.

It could be the fridge itself. Having a whole house filter is a must. Some older fridges have metal coils and that could that affect the taste. As previously stated if the water out of your tap is different/ better taste and less odor than it's definitely the fridge.
