It was 2001. Here’s the thread
https://www.talkofthevillages.com/fo...41/index2.html Keep in mind, Crystal Lagoons doesn’t build the beach for the sake of the beach, it’s part of a cool system for industrial development. So along with the beach comes a large industrial complex. |

People actually listen to listen to them and quote them? I watched 2 minutes of one of their videos a couple of years ago. Reminded me of watching Captain Kangaroo in black & white, in the 50's. |

It’s a shame you felt the need to defend yourself simply for asking people to engage in harmless dialogue regarding a possible beach/lagoon. If people viewing your question don’t want to participate, they should simply scroll past this thread. I’m convinced that certain people want others to be as miserable as they are. Hopefully you won’t be dissuaded from making future posts. |

- We are not associated with The Villages - I am not a licensed real estate broker - I have no formal training - I offer no more than my own personnel experience However I feel perfectly at ease now to give out false information based upon no research and my tenure of living in TV for (pick a number between 1-5 years). So based upon myself doing no homework on this subject whatsoever I can tell you there will be no gators due to the fact the lake will be salt water connected directly to the Atlantic Ocean via canal just above Orlando. |
I recall a year or so ago, Don Wiley showed in the plans for East Port, that the far end of the lake they built for dragon boat racing was to have a beach area. Not big enough for what a company like ADËLON Capital would build. I’m guessing like the beach areas across from Sumter Landing on Palmer Legends Golf Course, more aesthetic than functional.

I'm just curious. It has to be on the Riley Grove 9, as that's the area across from Sumter Landing? I play there frequently and never noticed the beach. I must be hitting it straight on the hole with the beach, because I've never noticed any bikini clad women when I go to hit a shot. |
I guess one could call a sand bunker a beach area….

[QUOTE=frayedends;2274458]Really? Why post a reply at all? Okay I’ll assume you really don’t know.
So what do you all think about the possibility of a lagoon/beach coming to the villages? Have you heard any rumors or news? Do you like the idea? Any other thoughts on the subject? That’s how Internet forums work. Someone posts a topic and sometimes it’s a specific question and other times it’s an open ended discussion, such as my post. I really like that ! Open ended questions and civil written discussion, minus the emotionally laden language, name calling, overt and covert insults to others intellectual ability, education, and all the rest of it. Wonderful, I love that structure where you actually learn how others think and from what experiences they come. Hope it becomes the standard on here, and that it lasts ! So here goes: What do I think ? So few details but from the very few described here I'd say it would be a positive addition and I would probably take advantage of it. Would it cut down on the number of trips per month I make to the Gulf, or a bit further over to Daytona or Ormand.... hummm... yes, probably. Not quite like the peace and relaxation of the ocean, but I think it would be a really nice addition to our county for everyone's enjoyment, or to the Villages as a resident's only amenity ! Now, to take this way off topic, as these discussions seem to go (just like real conversations take many turns as they continue), I would "trade" a lagoon type swimming opportunity for a big, beautiful, shiny bright line station, with FREE parking, right in the middle of the Villages at last connecting us to airports, cruise terminals, and major cities ! ! I'd vote for that ! |
I’d love a beach or lagoon. Just another one of the amenities.

I can’t believe that this has raised its head again. Not going to happen for the many reasons as I discussed in my previous post the last time this came up. The developer will not give up control of this much commercial property, the land is too valuable within the villages, this is a heat sink for a thermal plant that doesn’t exist or on the radar for being planned, senior citizens aren’t exactly the target demographic for a water park, the list goes on, my sources all got a good belly laugh the last time I discussed it with each of them.

Yeah, what's the point of that? There are some "amazingly" helpful folks on this forum - some of them apparently "tinkerers". Hope I've learned from those sorts. They sure seem to help make the world a better place. . . *Did* get me pondering in this direction, though. . . :-) Q&A: Others vs other's vs others' | Australian Writers' Centre |
